So I play 2nl and read in blackrains book : crushing the microstakes

that you should vary your preflop raises by hand strength ... for example

6x for aa and kk, 5x for jj and qq ect...

ive been doing this for about 2k hands now and it doesnt seem to be working, everyone folds when i raise like this

also I play 6max

so my question is : is this just variance or a bad play?

yes at nl2 and nl5 only. they are unaware of size. in nl10+, it won't work.

just change to 4x for jj+ and 3x for other hands if it can't work.

until nl10+, you change to 3x for all hands.

are you using proper table selection?

This won't work on a table of regs but it will work if you find the fishy tables.

well you know at 2k hands it hard to say that im just not getting unlucky because everyone folds but yes I am table selecting and sometime get a few callers (usually fish and slp's) but I feel as if the regs catch on after 1-2 times of seeing my hand which I raised so big pre

Should you feel surprised regs will pick up on it? People at 2nl are not drooling idiots with an IQ of 60...they are normal people who don't know the best strategy to play the game.

Just another thought. It might be 2k hands but how many of these are actually TT+

Over a large sample size with those hands at 2NL it will work. The fish will keep calling.

I had a guy so fed up of it he wen't nuts with A6 and put it all in pre for me.
