Folding AA post-flop Folding AA post-flop

I feel really embarrassed about this hand because my two biggest losses in the last two days look almost identical. The player who busts me is a loose aggressive fish.

I guess I need to learn to fold AA.

No Limit Hold'em $0.01/$0.02
PokerStars
7 players

Stacks:
UTG - Hero ($6.05)
UTG+1 - UTG+1 ($1.27)
MP - MP ($0.61)
CO - CO ($3.77)
BTN - BTN ($3.11)
SB - SB ($1.61)
BB - BB ($2.00)

Preflop: ($0.03, 7 players) Hero is UTG with A A
Hero raises to $0.06, 2 folds, CO calls $0.06, 3 folds

Flop: 8 8 5 ($0.15, 2 players)
Hero bets $0.09, CO raises to $0.18, Hero raises to $0.48, CO raises to $0.78, Hero raises to $5.99 (all-in), CO calls $2.93 (all-in), Uncalled bet of $2.28 returned to Hero

Turn: 2 ($7.57, 2 players, 1 all-in)

River: T ($7.57, 2 players, 1 all-in)

Total Pot: $7.57
Hero shows A A (two pair, Aces and Eights)
CO shows 5 8 (a full house, Eights full of Fives)

CO wins $7.31

U should fold pre about 10% of the time to build tighter rep.

humm.. interesting.. folding AA pre and raising like 5x 23o UTG should polarize so much your range and confuse your opponents . solid advice bro

I've never seen anyone fold AA pre-flop. It's definitely a -EV play.

Surely this isn't the minority view?

you should start to do it once in a while, AA win about 80% of the time, so why not randomly muck some of them(20%) and win the others(80%), reducing variance and polarizing your range + reducing tiltness of getting sucked out
altough i wouldn't muck them in the blinds because we already have money invested

Folding without any money invested is a 0 Ev play.

Don't ever fold AA pre, I'm pretty sure these guys aren't serious.

I like just flatting the min raise as it'll give you a chance to fold later on in the hand.

Fold pre but tell them in chat what you are folding first.

Hard to play well OOP with AA so either fold or open shove preflop if you don't mind a bit of variance.

While this is true, it's only against one hand. Here you are facing 6 different hands each with a 20% chance of beating you so your actual odds of winning are 0.8^6 or 0.8*0.8*0.8*0.8*0.8*0.8 which if you put in your calculator comes out as 0.262144 or 26%.

So while counterintuitive, if you do the maths, it becomes clear why playing AA here is not a favourable proposition.

Sometimes you have to fold pre with AA to balance your folding range, c'mon man it's all maths. Don't be so predictable.

IM VERY SERIOUS, FOLDING AA PRE 10% OF THE TIMES is a good strategy!! U will balance your range, reduce variance, and you build a tighter reputation.

Here is a video from a highstakes show where a player uses my strategy, he FOLDS AA pre around 1 in every 10 times he gets AA.
