When he has 5
4 or some other complete air, he is probably folding to your bet on the flop and you will be sad. 
However, if he is not bluffy postflop, you are highly unlikely to get a cent out of those hands later in the hand anyway, so you might as well start betting and hope he has something and can call. Since he is a whale, the latter is actually pretty likely. The fact that he might fold and you won't get to show down your quads 
and will be sad is not a good reason to check.Also, the effective stack is 100bb and don't show your quads after taking this line.
