Came across what I thought, on reflection, is an interesting sort of hand.

At the time, I just pretty much instant raised, because I have a straight in a 3bet pot and there's a whole ton of cards that I don't want to see OTT.

With that said - when we end up stacking off, does villain actually flip over worse that often here? Obviously OTT I'm calling it off, but I'm talking more about the flop raise.

As villain is in the SB, he should have all suited aces here. He'll also have stuff like 89dd, 87dd etc. He also has 16 combinations of AK. All of these hands we're drawing dead against.

He's got 9 combinations of sets which I would expect to stack off here, but all of those have 35% equity. There's a hell of a lot more combinations of flushes and straights out there that we lose to and have 0% against.

What our raise does however, is fold out a lot of equity. Stuff like random pairs with a diamond, Ax with a non-ace diamond, KK probably doesn't stick around after the raise, neither does AA unless they have the Ad.

The only hand I can see that we absolutely crush and that he'll probably GII with is QJs and QTs. We fold out a lot of cards with equity on us but I'm not sure if villain shoves we can expect to be good here too much.

At the time I thought this was just standard - is it? In a way I'd rather raise JJ here since we have outs against AK and flushes.

Fold to 3bet pre

Raising flop is really bad.

As played I'm not putting any more money in the pot after he calls flop

Flat flop. This isn't a particularly good flop for you - you have 0% equity against at least 16 combos from his range.

If we had JJ, should we raise? Or are we only raising flushes/AdX semibluffs?

I don't have a raising range here. SB's range crushes mine here given I am 4betting AK, QQ and calling more speculative stuff 150bb deep.

However if you want to have one I'd suggest including some hands which you can't profitably call with that raise/fold.

Also how many AdX do you call pre with that are now semibluffs.

Just call the flop bet and proceed with caution on all streets.
