Villain is approx 60/5 over a meaningless sample of about 20 hands but it's enough to assume hes a recreational player. Would like to hear thoughts on this hand. I feel that it's very unlikely villain chooses to x/r sets, non-nut flushes, overpairs, and top pair. I think that even though hes probably a fish and its possible hes playing poorly, thus choosing to x/r these hands i think its more likely that he chooses to cbet them an overwhelming amount of the time. when he reraises a second time I feel like he's either got the nut flush, a very poorly played set, a wild tilt bluff, or an EXTREMELY POORLY played overpair or top pair in exactly that order from most to least likely. Dying to hear some input on this as I feel my jam is not optimal.

Just call the flop check/raise and check/call to the river. Yes, your hand could be better than villain's here, but being 180bb deep with them and having only 20 hands, I feel it's better to err on the side of caution. Sure, aggro fish will go nuts here, but most fish are passive and probably aren't doing this without a set or stronger flush (or AsTx).

I assume villain showed up with the better flush?

edit: You also may want to consider folding if you call the flop and villain spazz jams the turn.

ya villain snap called A5ss. I'm very aware deep stacked spots like this are a leak of mine and are a big contribution to my low 2.5EVBB/100 winrate over 85k hands at 10 and 16NL (still learning and working hard on my cash game). As soon as i reraised his x/r and he insta clicked back i felt like a huge fish and almost puked all over my keyboard. Honestly this hand disgusts me how bad i played it but hopefully its a mistake that wont be made again.
I completely agree that just flatting the min x/r and then calling down unless he spaz jams turn is the best line here, I'm leaving him lots of room to bluff whereas if i raise again im gonna eliminate 99% of his bluffs leaving behind the nuts.

I can't believe I didn't notice this after responding to both of your threads, but don't post the same hand twice in another thread, it's not necessary.

Ya i know, I couldn't figure out how to delete a thread and I spoiled the results of the hand since I'm a 2+2 noob who doesn't know the norms of the forums. Thought I'd repost but it definitely wasn't necessary

It is very possible that a fish would do this, but that does not mean they will call a 3bet. You are spot on in realizing that 3betting the check raise just isolates you against the stronger portion of their range.

The real question is: how do you respond to the check-raise while holding a higher flush, or even the nuts?
