Bad run out, but could I have avoided losing a stack here? I dont like the flop raise, at the time I was thinking value but a smooth call is probably best here and let him bluff some more? I could also be beat by a set.

As a standard I'd just flat the flopraise to keep villains bluffs in. If you know villain is bad enough to minraise/flat3b with Ahigh here a flop 3bet seems good tho, lol.

Runout is just unlucky but standard after flopplay.

Don't like flop raise. Just call his weird 3bet that essentially says he's on a set or Q with a good/great kicker....By raising flop you announce you have AQ/KQ or KK/AA so unless villain has a Q he should fold. but clearly you're vs. a fish so the runout sucked, you can't fold river even if you x and he bet you can't fold for 3:1 with a set vs. backdoor flush/backdoor straight, bluff potential and especially since villain could easily make the same bet with 2pr.

Unless you have a read that he likes to raise CBs with air I would just flat the flop because when you re-raise you turn your hand face up and he can't really call unless he has you beat. (well he shouldn't anyway).

Turn/River are standard, you can't fold once you hit the K on the turn. I would be shoving the river and praying for a call.

Uber donk hits runner-runner, what can you do.

Thanks guys, when i looked back at my hand thats the main thing i picked up on, the flop reraise was incorrect. Thanks for confirming, pretty sure i was losing the money here anyway but in a different situation the flop play would have been important. Thanks for everyones input

Actually out of interest - if we had smooth called this raise here on the flop and spike the K on the turn - we are acting first, what are your preferred lines? Are you leading into the pot or checking and seeing if he'll bluff away some more?

isn't leading on the turn as bad as re-raising his flop raise?

I think it is thats why I asked, given that we lead out and were raised, we cant then call / bet out. Were obviously not worried about giving him a free card when we hit trips on a reasonably dry board, obviously backdoor clubs turned but I woulnt normally think it would be a problem. So thinking purely from a value point of view, are we not missing a street of value if he just checks the turn right back?
