Hero (BTN): $25.90
SB: $12.60
BB: $38.25
UTG: $23.50
CO: $26.10

Pre Flop: ($0.35) Hero is BTN with 8 T
UTG raises to $0.70, 1 fold, Hero calls $0.70, 2 folds

Called preflop because wanted to play more pots in position vs this villain. Decent reasons for not calling would be welcome.

Flop: ($1.75) 7 5 K (2 players)
UTG bets $1.25, Hero calls $1.25

I decide to float flop because villain could be betting air and I could rep a lot of scary turns. After I call pre, I certainly wasn't going to be playing fit or fold. Comments here would also be welcome.

Turn: ($4.25) 2 (2 players)
UTG checks, Hero bets $2.50, UTG calls $2.50

After villain c/c this turn I should have put him on a range - 7x,66/88-QQ, FD and possibly straight draws (less likely since he raised pf)

River: ($9.25) 6 (2 players)
UTG checks, Hero bets $5.50

In real time I remember I bet this river because I didn't have SDV and felt I could fold his FD range here enough to make this +EV. However I think I should have bet even smaller ~$3.5 or possibly should have checked. I don't think he is folding any 1P hand here.

Betsizing fails.
On river he only folds a missed diamond draw.
44VPIP guys donīt fold hands that they called turn with unless it was a draw.

This is why we float with hands that have pot equity

preflop is thin, i wouldnt really want to get involved vs an UTG open, even from this guy. Unless he is really bad postflop.

I like a float on this board vs a villain that cbets a lot BUT this guy also doesnt like to give up (38% WTSD), so maybe hes not the best type to float.
Still I think your float until turn is slightly +EV, once he calls you can give up.

Oh and you bet too small
