I just got into 50NL HU at stars and I'm having trouble in some spots that just don't come up too often in 6-max and full ring.

A consistent problem I've had is with people who have 0% fold to 3bet. Often times these players are losers and suck in other areas, but in my (limited experience) I end up losing 60-70% of pots where I 3bet from the BB and the button calls. It's the one area the donks that I play against have an edge over me. I miss 66% of the time on the flop and have to bluff which never works because everyone expects a cbet 100% of the time from a 3bettor but if I don't bluff and go into check call mode I'm usually facing an all in by the river with a weak holding.

I basically see no way to make 3betting profitable against these players except by never 3betting without TT+ preflop and never bluffing because I get blown off A high and mid pair so often and it seems like whenever I do call down my opponent has something like TPWK or mid pair that he was value betting against me because he knows I have crap and might call him.

I know that all the good HU regs have pretty big 3bet stats though so I'm not sure what to do.

If they don't give you any respect at all and you're only 3betting for value, you're gonna make up for those 2/3 pots lost whenever you flop good and get multiple bets in (instead of losing just a cbet).

yeah your going to make more in the long run if they are consitantly calling your 3 bet and c-bets with anything

This...if they are really never folding you can 3bet pretty wide (all value hands obv) and just stack off any time you hit top pair.

If you really feel you are getting owned this frequently, 3bet a bit smaller and leave yourself with a better stack to pot ratio.

if you don't want to do this or have a chat ban or something then when you do get a monster punish them by stretching your 3bet size. Maybe you've run into the guy that will call 20x raise w/ atc, so now you just have to get big hands (maybe send a quick email to your internet poker provider).

OK so say I have AK and villain opens to $1.50 and I 3bet to $5 and he flats. I miss flop, which happens 66% of the time, and I cbet. Most villains just insta min raise me or float then bet turn when I give up. Do I always just let this go or do I ever bluff back?

If they're bluffraising you so much, it's obviously +EV to 3bet shove AK or double barrel more.

you are joking? It's guy who limps aces on the button who ruins it man. 3bets are poker, and people who play like op just said are destined to slip, and the pots just get bigger when you do hit. Celebrate this 100% flat to cbet ratio and make the pots big on turn

Don't 3bet that much if they are always calling and you can't outplay them on flop? You 3bet because you see other regs doing it? Don't imitate other's game come up with your on.

I was playing someone like this the other day , I tried your advice and asked them nicely and they folded to a few 3 bets. Good call!

no, it's not. it makes the pots small, your game/range predictable and the whole session a joke.

this isn't necessarily true, a style with just 12% 3betting can work too. most have something around 20 though

100% 3b flat and never folding is unexploitable.
