+1 to rumnchess, you sumed up most of my thoughts about movies and 2+2 - not so much this thread, mostly OOT and those forums. I feel like a ****** sometimes when I admit that I love a certain movie which those "wannabe big shot movie critics" laugh at. I honestly think sometimes people just say it to be cool because they think they are smart if they hate a certain mainstream movie or a TV show. Like some people hate almost all sitcoms for the sake of it, I get it, you are depressed and 50 years older than your passport says. Two and a half men gets a lot of hate for some reason, I love it, Charlie is my role model. Rounders I understand it is hard for a pro poker player to get in the right set of mind to watch it but it is still a very good movie.

You can't seriously think that saying rounders is a bad movie is some kind of elitism. I'm quite sure that if you'd ask any non-poker player who've seen it they would say it was awful. Just because the subject makes it interesting to you doesn't have to mean it's a good movie...

And that "anti-elitism" additude is stupid anyway, it's like using the Hitler-card to counter one's arguments... Saying that movie X is bad in your opinion doesn't make you an elitist. In my opinion rounders was far below avarage movie and if it wasn't about poker, I probably wouldn't even have watched it to the end.

I thought that most ppl just liked Rounders for it's obvious flaws and unintended comedy, but seems like I was wrong. I'm sorry if I offended anyone.

Rum, even the most ignorant newbies of poker don't think poker started in 2003.

A lot of the newbies are infatuated with people such as Doyle Brunson and Stu Ungar, guys that are usually talked about heavily as playing in the "wild west" days of poker and old vegas.

For all the hidden poker terms that a poker player would only get, and for every scene such as the one where they tear up the fish, there are equally face palming scenes such as the Chan vs Damon one that a poker player would cringe to watch.

That said, I've always enjoyed the movie. I like Maverick a bit more as far as poker-related movies go, but Rounders is always a fun watch.

so I ask you, when did you first see rounders? was it after you found 2p2 and were already deeply into poker. For me I watched it within a month of playing my first hand of poker, ever, and for me, eventually discovering everything about poker, allowed me to kind of look back and reminisce about how funny that was, how poker was 'kind fo right', or 'horribly wrong' on diff. aspects of poker, but to even attempt what rounders did, as a mainstream movie, like to portray some aspects of this profession or lifestyle, and actually do a decent job of it despite the dramatization (needed to have the movie make $, and appeal to the masses) is such a huge feat IMO, considering how few other films/resources have been able to do this

im to young for ibiza atm i am 19 now.hope to go in 2-3 years.

nice story; my uncle has been to ibiza last year with his girlfriend, he's also a big house fan. srs its so sick nice, pretty expensive tho. he told me its around 8-10eu for a beer and mix drinks are even sicker. tickets around 50-70 euro for clubs at the door, u can easily spoil few grand in a week.
