Down 6 buyins in 1 day, do i suck?!? Down 6 buyins in 1 day, do i suck?!?

Sorry guys, really long post because I had a bad day. Maybe the only question I should be asking is, how do I do my post-session review and get lessons out of these hands.

I'm a break even player staying slightly ahead with rake and every week I think I finally get it and this is the week where I'll start really moving ahead. But I keep having days like today. I'm down 6 buy-ins today. I lost a bunch of big hands and seemed to never get paid off. I have 4 hands below where I got creamed. I THINK I played them ok and just had a bad run?!?

How do I know if I suck and need to really start over, or if I just need a few tweaks???

Read on SB, he was a weak, loose player. I thought he missed the flop and even if he hit I'm figuring I've got 12 outs at least, more if he's just donking with top pair.

I flat called specifically planning to hit it hard or check fold the flop. I didn't want to play out of position. I hit the flop hard so I was slow playing a little to try to get them both to come along. On the turn, it's so dry I figure I'm way ahead and want to get the money in then. Only possible worry was a set and I really figured there was no way. Villian was so aggresive (notmny hands of history, but infinite aggression) I put him a play.

Good example of how I'm TRYING to play since I read Tien's "6 max tips..." in the memorable posts. No specific read on the villian. I'm simply playing position preflop and trying to set him up to push him off a weak hand with a CB, or hit something big. The flop seems huge to me, to a gutshot straight flush and a weak board that I can't imagine hit him at all.

I guess this is just an example of "beware the unraised pot"??? Can I really get away from 2pp on the turn? I think this is just bad luck and congrats to the other guy. If not, what should I do?

Here are a few hands where I no I should have won more, but I don't know how?!? Surely I have a fundamental problem, but what? I THINK I should be shoving it in more with made hands just like I did above on big draws, is that it?? Can I overbet the pot on the flop so I shove the turn??? Or is it value, value, value??? I don't know when to push hard and when to extract.

No, you don't suck

I lost 40 buyins in 2k hands, I suck
10-01-2009 , 08:28 PM
You probably suck, but not because you lost 6 buyins in one day.

Some of these hands are quite bad.
10-01-2009 , 08:28 PM
Hand 1: 3-bet more if you're going to 3-bet, although I got through 10NL without ever 3-betting light.

Hand 2: Raise flop v.s the small bet and hope they have Ax or draw they will never fold. As played you took a beat :/

Hand 3: Don't 3-bet an UTG open with 64hh...flop I'd make a small raise and call a shove instead of jamming in, he might put you on a draw and call with Ax when you want him to fold when you make it $3. You can rep a PP better that way.

Hand 4: Lead flop in a limped pot, they usually fold. As played don't go broke in a limped pot with your 2p....it's not a strong hand.

Hand 5: Raise flop get it in. Bet more on turn.

Hand 6: Check/raise or lead 2/3 so you can shove river. Weak lead is bad.

Hand 7: Raise turn bigger and bet river bigger.

So...

Yeah, that's worse. Guess I shoulda mentioned one day was 1300 hands

Can you be a little more specific?? Which one's quite bad and why??

No, these look fine for the most part. Read the stickies, 1 hand per post please. Sorry.
