Villian is unknown. I've been at table for 1 orbit.

Hero in sb w/ AQs

Folds to me, I raise to 4bb. BB 3-bets to 12bb. 100bb effective.

Flop is no help, I check and fold to 4/5th's pot bet.

Should I be 4-bet or folding to unknown here?

very read dependent imo. if he's crazy then 3bet if he's tight the nfold. with no read, i prob lean towards folding

Well if Villain is unknown, our decision can't be very read-dependent, now can it? :P

I'm of the opinion that 4-betting while only 100 bb's deep is pretty much the same thing as pushing preflop. Are you folding if he 5-bets all-in? CAN you fold if he 5-bets all-in?

So yes, fold flop. I think calling the 3-bet PF isn't bad, but OOP you need to be more inclined to fold flop and not get carried away if you miss badly. In calling the 3-bet preflop, you pretty much limit your flop options to bet/fold, bet/callAI, crai, and c/f, so you need to not have a problem with that by calling the 3-bet.

If you have trouble playing 3-bet pots out of position, then fold preflop for the 3-bet.

vs. unknown i usually fold to the 3bet. a-qo is not easy to play since you will often miss the flop, and 4bet PF means you commit yourself most of the time and you will feed good hands a lot.

I guess the call pre is ok as some people 3bet light out vs a SB raise

Once I whiff the flop I'm folding
