Bad Flop For Trips... Bad Flop For Trips...

Here's a hand I was in 5 minutes ago. Poker Stars $5 HU S&G regular format

Villain: Aggressive, but not very. Also Loose, but with enough marbles to make laydowns post flop. I couldn't get a great read on him because the tourney was only 5 min in.

Hero-$900 Villain-$2100 Blinds 20/10
Button on Hero, sittin pretty with Js Jc
Hero Calls 10. Villain raises 20 to 40 total. Hero Re-Raises 40 to 80 total Villain calls.

Flop [Jd Qc 10d]
Villain raises 20. Hero puts 60 on top to make it 80. Villain dumps in another 60 to 140 total. What do do? I thought he might have top pair, two pair, or one/both of the draws. Should I shove with what I'm assuming is the best hand at the moment, or just call and see what happens, perhaps even lay it down?

This hand is a trainwreck and I'm not really sure what to say. To start, I don't think I've ever seen a HU flop that was "bad" for trips. I also can't imagine ever folding.

rule of thumb never bet less than half of the pot. And on boards where a lot of draws can hit bet near to full pot.
In short rr pot preflop
now that you are here raise the pot and call a shove.

raise pf next time when first in.

your rr pf is too small, you're giving him odds with many hands.

raise bigger on flop.

if u lose to 98/K9/AK or get outdrawn by 9x/Kx w/e it's poker, move on to next one.

If you're going to limp JJ, you should have a very strong reason for doing so. And since you said villain is aggressive (but not very), it doesn't sound like you really have a good reason. And to be honest, I think limping JJ is a bad play in general. Overcards flop far too often for the times where villain doesn't attack your limp.

But if you are limping to trap somebody who is being very aggressive, then you should be making more than a minraise preflop when they bite.

From there, you should be doing whatever it takes to try to get all the money in on this flop. Villain has indicated that he has a hand he likes. Go with it. This is not a flop where you need to slowplay your hand, and you're going to have the best hand a lot.

Since you posted the hand at all, I'm assuming villain flopped a straight or had QQ. That sucks, but you still have to go with it. There are all sort of 2 pair and pair + draw hands that are going to be more than happy to get it in on this flop, and you're way ahead of his range.
