Bout time I get to start one of these
08-01-2008 , 02:10 AM
pls let august be better than July.

Goals: play a lot of hands
08-01-2008 , 02:40 AM
August already? Man, time flies
08-01-2008 , 02:41 AM
goals: don't gave a 4% average roi but negative at nose bleeds. Limit the # of new pros that I get to strongly dislike me to 1, thus reducing my rate by 50%.

Gonna repost this..

What do you guys think of mandatory time-based breaks?

I just battled a couple regs for a few hours...Grinded out a brutal breakeven session where I've never run so carddead...Instead of taking a break once I was up a tiny bit (a longgg 2.5 hour session for me) I continued playing one of them for too long and it all came crashing down for something like -3 BI on some ******ed revenge-based plays..such spew hasnt happened to me in a while.

Of course I take a ten minute break, sit back down and ship 2 BI in a matter of minutes from two different opponents with a clear head...

I think I want to make myself take mandatory time-based breaks from now on...I think it will cure me from getting a tilt vendetta for a certain opponent Ive been playing too long...It will also help to clear my head for a bit and sit down fresh again..

Anyone have some significant thoughts on this?

I play 4 ~one hour sessions a day and I play HUSNGs exclusively as they are def more profitable than cash games at the same level. I get put on auto-pilot during long sessions and thats usually when downswings come for me at least. My first balla call of the new month:

Full Tilt Poker $220 + $10 Heads Up Sit & Go No Limit Hold'em Tournament - t20/t40 Blinds - 2 players
The Official 2+2 Hand Converter Powered By DeucesCracked.com

BB: t1055
Hero (BTN/SB): t1945

Pre Flop: Hero is BTN/SB with J 9
Hero raises to t80, BB raises to t240, Hero calls t160

Flop: (t480) 8 A 9 (2 players)
BB checks, Hero checks

Turn: (t480) K (2 players)
BB bets t815 all in, Hero calls t815

River: (t2110) 2

Spoiler:
Final Pot: t2110
BB shows 6h 4h (Ace King high)
Hero shows Jd 9c (a pair of Nines)
Hero wins t2110

God, I just won a marathon match. Villain wouldn't stop sucking out, but he eventually missed.

I can usually tell when my play is deteriorating a little bit. When I'm planning on quitting a session I just quit the tables I don't have matches on and keep eliminating tables after I'm done.

I used to play diesel sessions of 6m, like 8 hrs str8, and its easy, but playing HU I really have to be in a very intense set mode to play more than like 1.5hr
usually been playing like, 400 hand sessions on 3 tables, and then take a 20 mins break or something. Its also cool cuz when im playing somebody I dont really wanna be playing, well, I just dont feel bad leaving even if I just suckout stacked them 5 min ago or w.e.

im high, but basically, HU is too intense, emotional, etc to play long sessions, unless you have a massive fish who keeps reloading.

edit: also, first 1k hands this month, +~7BI. Ship Aug plz.

so many bum-hunters on stars. If one more person plays their button then sits out and says "gg", I will start killing small animals

It wasnt a good ****ing game u played one hand and sat out, wtf is going on. As a side note on euro sites ppl are much more likely to play all comers

I dont think that this is true, It more than likely means ur not relaxed when ur playing and that ur expending way to much energy on standard spots
08-01-2008 , 04:37 AM
I think its more just that i get frustrated too easily and have to work real hard to control my tilt issues.

yeah this just comes with time. But if you always quit at the first signs of tilt u will never overcome it imo. You need to practice playing through it without doing anything stupid

prob, but w/e. As long as I dont tilt I dont care how I make it happen.

nvm got it

So I'm about to end my first session at the 11.50's and decided the one i just joined was my last for the night. Heres the chat before hand.

Keichi: Wanna flip
Me: sure
Me: I'm tired anyways

Mind you this was all before the tourny started, and I lost a little in my first session so just wanteed to go to bed. Then this.

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t20 (2 handed) Poker Stars Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums)

Button (t1500)
Hero (t1500)

Preflop: Hero is BB with A, A.
Button raises to t1500, Hero calls t1480 (All-In).

Flop: (t3010) 8, 4, 8 (2 players, 1 all-in)

Turn: (t3010) 6 (2 players, 1 all-in)

River: (t3010) 6 (2 players, 1 all-in)

Final Pot: t3000

Results in white below:
Hero has Ad Ah (two pair, aces and eights).
Button has 2h 3c (two pair, eights and sixes).
Outcome: Hero wins t3000.

So I guess not a bad way to end the night.

have a post it note on your screen, everytime you play on vs someone because of a tilt vendetta pop an x on it, when you get 3 x's you have to play a 2 hour session of two tabling 5c/10c full ring before you can play heads up again. if you make it to 9 x's then you probably need anger management
