good luck , enjoy the break be sure to reflect and review, it's very good to put time in studying especially if your normally don't when you are on a break cause you tilted/got emotional

I think I have somehow become worse at HU play than when I started. My first 200 games I was on fire, granted that was largely at lower stakes. And my next 1000 games I was solid, even at 110. And now I can't even beat 22$. I am around 45% for my last 200 games.

filthyvermin, it happens, I'm now breakeven (finally!) over my last 500 games.

Good to know this happens good players (breakeven over 500 games) as it puts my static periods in perspective.

Hey, does PT timestamp all of your hands? So you can track them in terms of sessions?

I really don't understand how people can bear to make a living playing donkaments. Also, i apparently suck at them. hard. in other news, 1000NL is treating me better than it did yesterday.

How do you sort out pokertracker stats that are usefull for HU? I remember reading somewhere that the pfr etc gets messed up.

Also, which HUD, if any, do you guys use?
04-13-2008 , 07:42 PM
I use MasterLJ's (see CR forums). I like it.

Does he have his own HUD or just explains which stats to use?
04-13-2008 , 07:57 PM
he has his own hud. I think you can d/l it for free (google it). there's also a vid on CR where he explains how he uses it, but you have to be a member.

I'm new to HU, but here is my key to winning so far:

Lose one hand where you are caught bluff raising and you'll never have to do it again (as a bluff obv) that session.
04-13-2008 , 08:32 PM
not really a good player might expect that kind of behavior from you so you might want to go ahead and bluff right away.
04-13-2008 , 08:34 PM
I think you misunderstood...basically I've been barreling and check/raising fairly liberally, and as soon as they decide to call one or one gets to showdown however they start calling every raise because "its gotta be a bluff"...so once one gets to showdown its not necessary to do anymore, because everybody just starts calling.

And I'm beginning to see that tagfish can be much more profitable than some of the fish.
04-13-2008 , 08:39 PM
casper, in HU everyone calls anyway, regardless of bluff frequency

he understands perfectly. an example that i frequently find is +EV:

I 4bet PF for value or as a bluff. the hand is not shown down. The very next hand the villain 3bets again, and i 4bet with 85o in the knowledge that villain will think "he's not crazy enough to 4bet bluff me again. I fold"

this kind of stuff frequently happens against thinking players.

Also, you're absolutely right about the TAGfish comment.

another deep run in the bodog 100K just to get dealt 62off 100 straight times and bust 10th
04-13-2008 , 10:39 PM
spent the whole day drinking wine and eating caviar in Napa valley. I think that should relax me enough to start the pwnage at the 115s on Tuesday and return to the baller I was 3 months ago.

hey skates, thanks for the words of encouragement. so i take it you are a solid winning player and sometimes can lose consistently over hundreds of games? do you think you could even lose sometimes for a stretch of a hundred games at 22$?
04-13-2008 , 10:58 PM
I'm not sure if I'm a solid winning player in the games I'm playing now. However, I had a ~275 game break-even streak at a lower level that I was certainly a winning player in. I imagine that I would lose over a course of 100 games at the $22s at least once in every 1500 games or so, but Jay_Shark is the one that could answer that for sure.

Read: Yes, you could lose for a stretch of 100 games at the $22s. Of course, be mega critical though. You might be playing poorly too, and not just running bad.

Indy,

I thought you returned the other day?
