snapper. Even if he has 9T u have outs, and he's got other hands in his range that you crush such as 2 pair, smaller sets......

put him on a range and see how your hand fairs against his entire range, not just the one hand that has you beat. In this example you're ahead of most of his range except T9. You should be happy to get in AI here.

I'm going to give you some extra help here: Let's stove the hands he's doing this with, including the aforementioned T9. I'm going to give him a super tight range, and you'll see that it is still profitable.

Board: As Jh 8d 7s
Dead:

equity win tie pots won pots tied
Hand 0: 49.727% 49.73% 00.00% 547 0.00 { AcAh }
Hand 1: 50.273% 50.27% 00.00% 553 0.00 { JJ, 88-77, T9s, T9o }

Here, we're allowing him to shove with all his sets. Break even against his nit range.

How can we explain his actions? He figures you for AK (all fishy players do). When the spade comes on the turn, he's afraid of the flush draw and jams his set (or T9). Of course he doesn't realize you can't have a flush draw if you had AK, but he still is scared, nevertheless.

Being 50/50 and getting a pot overlay, you insta-call.

Let's narrow the range further and take out the JJ...

Board: As Jh 8d 7s
Dead:

equity win tie pots won pots tied
Hand 0: 43.182% 43.18% 00.00% 418 0.00 { AcAh }
Hand 1: 56.818% 56.82% 00.00% 550 0.00 { 88-77, T9s, T9o }

Still doing great! Call!

Now watch this... we are only going to let him call with T9s, pre-flop and jam with two sets and T9s specifically.

Board: As Jh 8d 7s
Dead:

equity win tie pots won pots tied
Hand 0: 67.727% 67.73% 00.00% 298 0.00 { AcAh }
Hand 1: 32.273% 32.27% 00.00% 142 0.00 { 88-77, T9s }

Crush-zilla. As soon as he only calls with suited T9, your equity zooms up.

More importantly, he's doing this with more than just those two sets and T9. He's doing it with two pair hands and draws. As soon as you add even a single two pair hand, your equity is monstrous.

Board: As Jh 8d 7s
Dead:

equity win tie pots won pots tied
Hand 0: 83.014% 83.01% 00.00% 694 0.00 { AcAh }
Hand 1: 16.986% 16.99% 00.00% 142 0.00 { 88-77, T9s, 87s, 87o }

OMG!! Ship it.

I hope this helps. Everyone posting here intuitively knows it (or has already gone through this stove exercise), but I hope this gives you insight into their insta-call answers.

If you don't have stove, go get it and start learning how to use it!
