I would appreciate feedback on the following hand:

2/5 NL
Folded around to me (I'm 2 from the button). I have 8,9 o and raise to $20. Folded to the BB who raises to $55.

I have a TAG table image and I start the hand with about $550. I've played for 3 hours and have yet to show a bluff and have won at showdown the few times that I've had to show.

BB has TAG image as well and started the hand with several thousand. He also has not shown any bluffs in the 3 hours I played with him and I believe has also won at showdown every time in the hands I have seen.

I decide to call the pre-flop raise and just he and I go to the flop.

Flop is 4, 6, 7 rainbow.
He bets $135. I raise to $300 and he instantly shoves and I call.

Without revealing the results or his hand (yet) I want to know how others would have played it and critique of my actions.

Thanks in advance!

First off fold 89 PF especially to 3 bets from what your call TAG.....and this will help you avoid these tough spots.

Your raise on the flop is terrable IMO only because I dont think a TAG is 3 betting you light PF. ....on that note before you shipped 2/3 your stack consider this.

Pf againdst 1010+ and AQ+ your 25%.

On flop Against 1010+ your gonna the hand that wins 32%. The only hand that 3 bets you PF other than those pairs is combos of AK and maybe AQ and you are a coin flip after that flop. Against 1010+ AQ+ your at 40%.

I would have folded pre. But on flop as you played I would either fold or call and see if he ships the turn....

As played you have put 350 in and have 200 left. So your looking now to put in 200 more for 900. A little better than 4:1 and outs give you a little better than 2:1. My logic may be slightly off but I think as played calling here on his 4 bet is the right mathmatical play.

May I reiderate though... fold this PF

Thanks for the input. I'm somewhat curious as to your advice to lay down preflop. I need to call $35 to win $77 with massive implied odds... no good? I'm obviously a dog but if up against AK or AQ, not too big of an underdog and there is no way he would ever put me on a hand like 8,9 o given my table image.

I assume he is popping me preflop w/ big pocket pair or AK or AQ. Is there no justification for raising him on the flop knowing I'm 35% to win the hand if it goes to showdown plus the fold equity that I am getting in case he does have a hand like AK or AQ or maybe even pocket 10's or J's?

Thanks again for the help.
