UTG has just lost a huge pot all in with AQ vs J10 all in pf on a 527 board. he has been raising a fair number of pots but has been quite aggro int he few hands he has played since this hand, so I sense he is tilting pretty hard. Anyway, he open for a raise UTG, pretty standard. I pick up A8 in the sb. Not a hand I want to play oop but against tilty player I feel I probably have the best hand at this stage. Anyway, flop comes A47

I opt to check call to see what my opponent does on the turn, as I feel he may shutdown if he does not have an Ace. Anyway, turn brings A

I opt to check again, feeling my hand is most likely good now. He double barrels half pot, and I call. River brings a rag and I check again. Opponent bets pot

I am thinking at this stage I beat very little and in fact I may be losing to a bigger Ace. I am not saying I played this hand perfectly, in fact I probably misplayed every street. But given how the hand has played out, is it correct to make the call on the river?

Your read is that he is tilting, and raising UTG with less than A8s. If he really is tilting, you should just shove river, and watch him call out of frustration.

You've underrepresented your hand. In the villain's eyes, you may have 88-JJ (QQ and KK 3bet PF I think) and want to get to showdown cheaply. He could also have TT-KK and thinks you probably don't have an ace because there's 2 on the board.
Anyway, if you call PF with A8s with a read that you probably have the best hand, and you call when you hit your Ace on the flop, you have to at least call that river with the other ace on the turn. You can't wait to have the nut boat or nut flush before stacking off. If you fold this, save yourself the money and just don't play A8s OOP against an aggro opponent.

How could you fold this? Scared of the case ace?

You've under represented your hand at every opportunity, encouraged a titlting player to bluff, so he bets and now you're thinking of laying it down?

Shove over top, as this is the kind of board that you played the hand for.
