It's extremely difficult to get value from quads unless your opponent has got a boat. You can get some value from flushes and straights on occasion. The problem is, you've got the board locked and villain will always be worried about the Ace if he's got just a pair, and will therefore play cautiously.

I dont think raising the flop will do much good (we dont know he's got QQ and will take it past the flop). A quick min raise looks bluffy so you could try that. He'll call and check the turn. Check behind then value bet the river.

You're really not going to get too much from villain in this instance. I don't mind checking the turn, betting may well induce a fold, you need to give him a chance to catch up, i.e. hitting a FH on the river. Also checking behind on the turn looks weak. You should bet more on the river though, around $3.20 should be ok.

Why did you request time? It's going to ring alarm bells to an observant opponent. If you take too long to act, he'll get worried just as if you act too quickly, i.e. snap calling. Also, requesting time when you have plenty of normal time remaining is an even bigger alarm bell.

bet something ******ed on the turn that will enable a ******ed size river bet for the rest of your chips.

wtf at bet sizing. Bet turn, he's continuing if he thinks you don't have an A, he likely likes his QQ and won't get away from them

Just v-bet turn / river

I requested time because I thought it might look like I was affraid of AA that landed on Flop. I thought it might make it look like I had JJ QQ or KK and maybe thinking before I called his bet into AAx because he might have a Ax in hand. I checked turn to keep that scared look up, because he checked turn so I thought my check looks like PP under AA's and when he checked river I thought my bet looked like I thought I had best hand under AAx.
Thank you for your advice. I was not thinking that my timedown looked like Ax at the time but now that you say that I think if someone times down on me and calls I would think he has Ax.

Don't tell people what he had. It makes it much more difficult to think reasonably about how to extract value.

Fold flop. I'd say 90% of the time he will have 99 and hit running 9s for quints.

calm down. People are giving you advice for free. Take the free advice and take the snark in stride. Poker is a humbling game. If you can't take the snark, then you've got no business playing.

You should have bet the turn. A small bet would do it since you only have like $3.90 in a pot greater than $4. If he folds, he folds, but you probably didn't have any value to be made anyways. If you bet $2 on the turn, then it's trivial to get the rest of the money in on the river.

It's hard to say because I know villain's hand, but I think I would have minraised flop to build the pot. I would then check behind on turn and put the rest in on the river. If he doesn't call the minraise on the flop, he doesn't have a good enough hand to pay you anymore money. The turn check confuses him and makes him think he may be good.

typical "too clever by half" timing tell. Never, ever, ever use your timebank when you flop a house or better.

Don't you think there is a bigger chance he'd call the $3.90 bet on the river instead of turn?

not everyone on this forum is a winning player so when you get bad advice like fold pre or whatever, all they've got is their ego and bad advice. it happens a lot, bad players give bad advice. just read the posts that will help you.

You sound like me when i first joined and i'm still trying to keep my cool when people ridicule me. It's true, there's absolutely no need for people to be rude and there's no excuse for it, good poker players are usually well mannered.

What i've found though, is by responding to them, it achieves nothing but wastes your own time and energy, and a ganging-up of people telling you that you're the bad guy!

Anyway, just shrug it off, ignore the sarcastic/rude comments and focus on getting along with those who are providing advice that's helping your game.

Hey Help Why Me,

First your original hand question. Getting Max value from this sort of hand is fraustrating.

Its really as simple as betting trips though. Either your opponent has a hand he'll continue with or he doesn't. In this case he's obviously attached to his queens, he called your reraise pre flop. After the action on the flop a turn bet is good. He either calls or doesn't but if he doesn't he probably isn't calling the river either.

As far as unhelpful forum members go, its all poker! You do have to be careful of free advice. Some posters are very helpful. Others not. There has recently been a thread dedicated to asking Beginners forum members to not be such douches, the fact people ignore this only makes them douchier! They are probably losing players any ways or they wouldn't have such big chips on their shoulders!

Finally, where is your avatar from? She's hawT!

I like the check on the turn. It's pretty weak and can get some bluffcatches on the river. But I don't like the request for time on the flop. Just call. If you need to hollywood, do it on the river. The flop is too early to start getting fancy. Your river bet should be larger, around pot or you can even timedown and overshove if you want to. IMO if he's calling a PSB he'll call an AI.

Also, it's all goodnatured fun when people tell you to fold pre. Come on, loosen up. Getting pissed isn't going to get you anywhere.
