Should I just call his re-raise on the flop since its a dry & rainbow board and let him catch up? Or just 3-bet/shove on the flop?

I think the best play is to just call his raise on the flop and then try and get all his money on the turn, but not quite sure....

I'd probably call then check turn. If he's going to slack off with a K here you'll get his money anyway.

exactly what markulous said. Why resteal with 55 though?

CO has tied the rope round his own neck. It simply isn't a good spot to raise. If you saw his hand I would note how he played whatever it was he had, as it must be exploitable.

As for your strategy I would recommend you just call flop. It looks like whatever he has he is going with it. You can probably jam over a cbet on the turn or just call and shove river yourself.

The only way you may not get the lot from KQ,AK etc is if you re-raise the flop.

(as for your wider strategy, I second robban97's question about your decision to resteal.)

Don't hate restealing 55 as can be hard to profitably play smaller pairs OOP. Probably end up x/folding the best hand a decent amount post flop when don't hit a set. Also more likely to do it if there is a squeeze happy BB as protects us against him.

Given that we're a little deeper here though I think flatting pre is better.

As played just call his flop raise and x to him OTT.

It's fine to resteal with hands like this against weak tight open raisers who defend their 3 bets too wide but then also fold too much on the flop, which describes a lot of micro regs.

kinda changing the topic of OPs originial post, I hope he don't mind. As ajryalls says, small PPs are really hard to play OOP. I fold 22-55 because I don't see a way to make the hands profitable from the blinds (unless it's outright profitable to resteal against a particulair player).
I'd much rather resteal more SCs and A2s-A9s than PPs, because they will be alot easier postflop. You'll hit draws and strong made hands, you'll have plenty of barrell equity. With small PPs you hit your set+ 12% of the time, and the rest of the time you'll have to bluff your opponent or x/f.

Do you mean why re-steal preflop?

I agree that resteal is ok with small prs. They only play well with exactly the flop you got here. Otf I'd call. That makes your bet look like a cb and you are more likely to get his money ott.
