Hey, It's been a while since I last played nlhup, so I was a little lost in this spot. This was very early in the match, like 11th hand, and this was my first 3-bet also.

Villain is losing player, and ptr says him breakeven at 25nl with over 130k hands! so he must be doing something wrong..

$0.25/$0.50 No Limit Holdem
2 Players
Hand Conversion Powered by weaktight.com

Stacks:
SB ($52.10)
Hero ($51.95)

Pre-Flop: ($0.75, 2 players) Hero is BB 10 10
SB raises to $1.50, Hero raises to $5, SB calls $3.50

Flop: 4 8 9 ($10, 2 players)
Hero bets $7, SB calls $7

Turn: Q ($24, 2 players)
Hero???

So what should I do in this spot? I feel like every option sucks..

I c/f here, barring any reads so far. Andrex, you say bet/fold. What are you getting value from here? If not, you're turning you're hand into a bluff on a superdrawy board OOP, which is just looking for trouble.

I'd c/f here.Lots of stuff got there and I don't think villain is going to randomly turn a pair into a bluff in this spot.

I like b/f. You will still get value from a ton of hands like bare hearts that floated flop, almost any pair, and will villain will almost never shove as a bluff or semibluff at this level.

If the river bricked I'd time down and shove and if it came a scare card I probably just c/f

Really? You think you are getting value from a 8 or a 9? In a 3bet pot? Where hero 2nd barrels on a drawy board? No

What bare hearts are floating the flop? AK? AQ? You're in a ****ty spot as both those hands will shove, leaving you pot committed ? (check stacksizes)

Okay, so what happened here is that I b/f:ed 13.5ish. I actually timebanked, and was considering a call since I thought theres a good chance I'm ahead. I didn't really put villain on a Q, and I didn't think he would be turning a hand into a bluff..but since it had only been a few hands, and no reads at all, I decided just to fold.

I thought cf would be weak, so I didn't want to do that, and cc would be too weird..but looking hand and after comments I think it could be better just to cf here, even that is pretty weak..I dunno, I think this is a tought spot..

btw how would you play if I had Th? I think cc:ing could be good option..(?)

FYP

definitely, a bet fold early on w/o reads, decent value in a bet and i would doubt that he soul reads us every time and ships all of his floats with equity. If i knew he was more passive and tight i might x/f turn and if it goes x/x, bet safe rivers.

if you don't feel comfortable betting this turn and playing a big pot with second pair, may be you shouldn't 3bet 99-TT preflop, because most of the time thats the kind of spot you are gonna be in.
