I can't edit my previous post, so I just wanted to add a little more.

On the flop, the CO now has the initiative but his strategic options have not changed. He can still either bet or check. By having the initiative we didn't gain any advantage, we don't suddenly have some sort of action that we can take that we couldn't take before.

In addition, when the CO c-bets, his bet does not carry some additional weight compared to donk betting in Scenario 1. It's not as if c-betting has some additional properties.

Similarly, when facing a c-bet the BU has all the same strategic options he always would if he had faced a donk bet in Scenario 1. He can raise, call or fold.

Initiative doesn't eliminate any of our strategic options, and it also doesn't dictate which option we should take.

villain has KT turned the absolute stone cold nuts (with no redraws unless you played a set kind of weird) and didn't want to bet you off your hand figuring you would do exactly what you did donk bet river with any hand with SDV so he can shove over
