this hand left me lost
utg is a 22/15 fish wasnt playing the worst but of the 22 hands i had him on he was limp calling alot and raise called a 3bet twice
btn is a reg i guess i have 415~ hands running at 27/7 which isnt a very solid game

how was the call here?
I felt it was best at UTG wasnt folding much to 3bets and i don't wanna bloat the pot OOP
plus i was closing action so i didn't have to worry about getting re raised

Flop: ($6.25) A 9 J (4 players)
Hero checks, UTG bets $6.50, CO folds, BTN calls $6.50, Hero raises to $18, UTG raises to $29, BTN raises to $65.10

the UTG fish has been C-betting 100% even though a small sample so i figured a C/R would be better
his range was most high Ax hands pretty much A10+ and big pairs
btn range for calling is kinda wide, he playes most nut hands fast so he would have raised a set of jacks or nines to ISO fish
when he calls i put him on a draw, maybe Q10 or a flush or some kinda weak Ax hands like A10 A9

i have no problem calling utg's allin but then the btn jams over the top
i hadn't been C/R' ing a lot or anything so its not like BTN would be trapping with a big hand expecting me to do this
plus i have blockers against either a set of Aces or jackes


so what do i do?

3bet or fold preflop, as played I call

i'd lead the flop rather than go for the checkraise, after u c/r u better go all in imo

If it was heads up, easy shove/call but this is multiway and the button clearly doesn't care what the two of you have. What hands would he be flat calling then 4bet/shoving with???

Preflop was pretty bad. You hit alright on the flop, but you do not want to play a hand as weak as AJ out of position like this against this many opponents. This is -EV. You might win a few pots but you'd lose more money than you'll win overall by getting yourself in bad spots.

Say the flop came A47, what do you do then?

BTN called, then 4bet huge. You said it's not likely he's trapping you..

But what if he was trapping UTG? I'd fold. Worse case he has a monster draw, in which case you're not way ahead anyway. If you had JJ, AA, or 99, that's a different story, then I'd shove.

You have blockers, but remember, that doesn't mean he can't have that hand. It just means it's less likely. I've been stacked and stacked players with AA or against AA with AJ/AQ/AK when an ace hits the flop.

fold pre, and you can avoid situations like this.

I don´t mind playing oop w/AJ against to fishes in a raised pot.

You never seriously thought about folding this, right? We're afraid of pretty much exactly a set of nines.

As for PF, I'd often fold. 3betting isn't terribly attractive and calling only leads to trouble. At worst it's a small mistake to fold PF.

How could we be afraid of exactly nines? Button is playing 27/7 and could totally have JJ here given his line. Not to mention UTG also seems to really like his hand, and could have AA JJ 99. On top of that, either one of them could also have a diamond draw mixed in there.

Their lines are just SCREAMING set.
