BTN is a solid aggressive player. I have over 500 hands with him and try not to get into too many marginal situations with him. He runs 27/23 and Steals from the button 2/3rds of the time. I decided not to 3-bet because he rarely folds in position when a blind 3-bets him. I have 3-bet him in the past and he generally calls then floats the flop but makes his real decision on the turn. I think he sees me as somewhere between a nit and decent player and he has seen me put my stack in on draws before. I was running 20/15 at the table today, and that is typical for me lately, although I don't defend the blind enough (Fold BB to a BTN Raise 77%) That is something I am looking to work on.

$0.25/$0.50 No Limit Hold'em - 6 players

MP: $68.50
CO: $79.40
BTN: $50.00
SB: $49.50
Hero (BB): $64.75
UTG: $35.65

Pre Flop: Hero is BB with 6 4
3 folds, BTN raises to $1.50, 1 fold, Hero calls $1

Flop: ($3.25) Q A 8 (2 players)
Hero checks, BTN bets $2.50, Hero

I am thinking of check/raising to about $8.50 but do I fold to 3-bet or shove over the top? Or is calling this in the BB and then looking to C/R just spew?

Meh, I probably wouldn't bother with blind defense against a guy whose able to out-play you post flop when he has position.

I probably 3-bet hands like AK/AQ/JJ+ and c/r the turn reasonably thin etc.

I wouldn't call pre-flop if you doubt your ability to take away the pot with the worst hand. On the flop, if you c/r, you really only represent 88/FD/AhXh/air, so villain maybe tempted just to get it in with AK/AJ. I can't really see much advantage to calling the flop, so I probably c/r/fold flop, or give up on the turn if I miss.

I would def fold pf, you are trying to play a pot out of position with a hand you need position and a read against a player to play effectively. Since you called, I'd check raise or lead into him with a 3/4 pot sized bet. Since he is raising 60% of the time from the button his range is HUGE, and you are playing tightly and called out of position, so he most likely didn't like the ace. An ace is they type of hand I would put you on in this spot if I was him.

IMO good agressive players aren't really looking for spots where players are playing back a them to out play them. They simply want to steal small pots, blinds ect and stay out out harms way if they don't have the goods. If his read is right and he is conistantly raising and calling 3 bets and floating flops vs 3 bets he probably isn't great and is just aggressive enought to get by passive players. I would wait for a better spot let him run you over when when you have marginal hands, because you can repop and get action with your big hands, and probably trap him for a large pot.

1) Fold pf.

2) Three bet this guy and double barrell him more, not less, if he calls 30bet too much and peels too light. I know it sucks lead/leading oop BUT you have to rememebr ths numbers and he simply will not have hands eoften enought to call profitably

3) Dont cr a guy oop when he peels light because u now have to hit. I would call and lead the turn if I hit. Check re-evaluate if I odnt and just see how much he bets.

2)I don't know if I'd three bet more, because if he is more willing to pay you off since he calls and floats alot. I don't want to be bluffing a calling station. I would rather get a strong hand and play him for value.

3)I think check raising reps the ace and hopefully takes down the pot right there, if it doesn't you still have outs. I like leading more but I don't really like check calling hoping you hit a hand and get paid. It's a perfect situation to show some agression and give yourself more chances to win the pot.

IMO obv.
