This is the second hand. First hand he raised and i folded. I am very new to this HU thing but in the ~4K hands i played this far, i have met a few guys 3betting the first hand and then instaleave. Since this guy didn't use autopost blind i thought he might be one of theese idiots.

Is this too marginal ?

Yes

Why would you do that with your super vague read (aka wild guess)?

thought this might be total spew. as i said i'm very new to hu (sng can get pretty borring, when playing full time, so wanted to try something else) and probably doing lots of stupid things.

thanks for the comments

You should have a good idea that this is spew if you play poker full time.

I don't like the preflop 4bet, but I don't think that it is -ev either. In the long run, you will probably get enough folds in this spot depending on player types.

That said, you have to have a really good post flop understanding to play A5o in a 4bet pot or you will get wrecked. What was ur plan? ship any flop?

anyways, after he ships on u, its an easy fold. You don't even have 2 to 1 odds. A5o is crushed by all aces and all pp's that are in villains range. Calling here is a definite leak.

Instead of berating him, lets stick to constructive responses people. I hear you on the low stakes hit n runners, but a5o is way too marginal here. I like a smaller 4 bet, especially if you are incorporating a lot of 4 bet bluffs at these stakes (which I don't necessarily agree with but thats for another thread...). When he five bet pushes, my calling range would probably be ajs aq+ 66+.

thanks alot for the last two posts. very helpful.

for some reason i have a very bad habbit of FPS'ing to the extreme when playing HU Cash, but i like alot and really wanna become good at this so i don't have to only play sng.

I've seen Dogisheadsup (ep1-4) and pr1nnyraiding (season 1) at DC but my worst leak is FPS and i have no idea how to get "cured". ingame i come up with reasons to do what i do, but looking at the hands afterwards with better time to think about the situations it just seems so bad.

How can one play "full time" and not know that getting it in for 100bb with A5o against an unknown is not only spew but incredibly bad. When he 5bet shoves over your 4 bet is it not completely obvious you are crushed? At best you have like ~30% equity in these spots. That gives you an EV of around -$20.

YOU CAN'T BLUFF BY CALLING!

Fold to the three bet. I get it in first hand v an unknown with 77+ and a10+ and i think most people on here would argue that is too light.

utter bad. you're dominated most of the time and you cant even wish for a flip as there are no smaller pockets to your 5-kicker, that reasonably ship it preflop

Just fold when he makes it $5.
