Villain is 42/33/4 but only about 25 hands. Seems pretty fit or fold postflop

2 main questions here

Should I bet flop
Is river a really easy b/f and should I have bet more

Definitely bet the flop, sorry you ran into KK.Your line will only get value from stronger hands, whereas betting the flop will get called wider. There are also not that much hands that can improve to second best hands on that board that won't call a flop bet.

I'd bet the flop. These are the three things I'd be thinking:
1. if he hit nothing he'll fold the bet and I get a small pot
2. if he hit top pair, or maybe two pair he'll likely call and I have a chance at a decent pot
3. if he has a set he would either
a) raise, in which case I'd muck
b) call, in which case I'd probably get to check on the turn and see the river for free

Did you read the HH correctly?

There is no way Im b/f that flop. I think he'd cbet flop with TP or two pair , if he has two pair + the money is going in

Whats the point in seeing river for free if he's a higher set, Im pretty unlikely to hit my 1 outer

Should have noted in my op, he c/f or checked behind on flop and folded turn a couple of times as pfr

I think looking back this river is definitely a b/f

I had to re-read the HH twice to make sure you actually had a set...

Pot the flop
Pot the turn
Shove the river

As played, snap!?

You do realise that even if this guy is 'fit or fold' he is still going to stack any 2pair hand, any decent K?

Yeah, but I would have thought most of his 2 pair hands cbet flop or shove over my turn raise? I probably should bet flop, but I was pretty sure he would have bet with a K or Q. I dont think he stacks of with top pair, he hadnt done anything spazzy despite the stats

The point was that if he still bet on the turn you may have known a raise at that point was not a good move. I'm just saying pushing your raise back to the flop rather than the turn may have been cheaper.

i guess you checked flop to disguise your hand? totally unnecesary at these stakes.
seems pretty weird though that an UTG opener would not cbet this flop unless hes slowplaying too lol

anyways bet flop and keep betting to get those stacks in by the river

Care to explain why? Most people want me to bet flop, but Im not sure its the best move here. I understand we want to build the pot with a set but whats villains range for opening UTG and then c/c or c/r this flop? I just felt he would fold a huge % of his range if I bet the flop

Also is river really that clear a bet/call the way hand played out? What hands does villain play this way that I beat

He is playing %42 of his hands. He won´t fold any piece of this board.
Any draw(gutshots bla bla), any pair.
We also want to build a pot.
On river we are beat by that BD flush most of the time.
