Grabbed by Holdem Manager
NL Holdem $4(BB) Replayer
($250)
Hero ($400)

Dealt to Hero 5 T

Hero raises to $12, calls $8

FLOP ($24) T Q T

checks, Hero bets $16, calls $16

TURN ($56) T Q T K

checks, Hero ?

Villain seems to be a passive fish but only 12 hands played.

What's your plan there ? Are we bet/folding, bet/calling, checking, ... ?
How would you react to a check/minraise ?

dont mind a pot control line on the turn by checking and then betting river or checking and then calling bet on river. If you decide to build a pot I think bet on the turn and value bet small on the river as long as a scare card doesnt come. If he is a passive fish, therefore rarely bluffing, id just shut down if he shows any aggression.

Just bet, decide what to do if he c/minraises you if he actually does it. Do you realise how much value you are losing by checking against this villain?

Checking this turn is pretty bad against described villain. So much value is to be had from any Q any K and any draws and your hand is right at the cutoff for him calling worse and raising better (although he prob flats a better T) so it is a pretty easy bet-fold, I like going 39-41.

If you want to pot control, do it on the river.

Wanted to elaborate on this a little more. His calling range that we are ahead of is way bigger on the turn than on the river because of draws so if you are going for 2 streets get it in now and check back river but bet turn/bet river is going to be the best line as long as river is blank.

Checking here feels really bad.

If you want more info on this (potentially pretty interesting) hand Rodolphe, you should probably post the next decision point.

Well, I did bet and he minraised so I felt really stupid at that point not knowing what to do. I was think about posting this decision but I feared people flaming me for not checking or for betting not knowing what to do.

Betting turn is for sure fine. I'm almost always calling a minraise there.

i'd always bet the turn, and calling a minraise seems standard given odds and the fact that it's really hard for him to have a FH or Qx/Kx we're kinda bluff catching and also drawing against a flush or straight. if he shoved or made a big raise folding is probably best.

i like to bet 1/2 pot vs these types, it just makes calling the min raise that much easier, and they can never get themselves to make a bigger raise.

Bet/fold like 50. This amount really discourages him making a move - think of how scary this looks to villain after that turn card comes off. This amount wil also gets a ton of value if he has something like QJ, KJ or KQ.

If he check min raised I'd probably just fold and assume that he has it. I don't think calling a CMR is good because you are only hoping to fill up and your fh outs aren't good a lot of the time. He will likely shove on any river and you'll be in a puke spot pretty much all the time. Remember that a CMR on the turn from a passive fish is almost always the nuts.
