Hero is a friend of mine. It's only his 2nd hand at the table so no reads.

Effective stacks: $400

8 Handed

Hero is dealt KK in SB.

Folded to button who bets $15, hero raises to $40, BB folds, button calls.

Flop (Pot: $80, Stacks:$360) Q, J, 5 Rainbow

Hero checks, Button bets $80, Hero folds.

Hero talked to me about this hand (I didnt like the fold)and said he felt button's range to call that big a reraise PF was JJ+, AK, and maybe AQ. Since he has 2 Ks, AK is less likely.

Hero thought his PFRR announced QQ+, or AK which would make button's large pot-sized bet very strong, especially since there is no flush draw. Calling this bet would make him pot committed so he mucked cause he didn't want to lose his stack on an overpair.

He had a couple points but this is a bad fold, right?

hi stinkpaw,

your friend isn't familiar with how online 2/4 plays. an unknown playing his second hand will probably not be credited with a ridiculous range when he 3bets BTN/SB, but he will not be credited with such a tight one that the calling range preflop will be what you suggested, either. even if he is, people like to make speculative and bad calls and follow these up with bad calls and bluffs postflop.

good luck,
terp

wat, he c/f KK wtf, I suggest telling your friend to not play poker and learn before he puts anymore money at risk. Also how does this commit him to the pot?
