400NL 6max, standard river c/r? 400NL 6max, standard river c/r?

Villain is 20/16 over the first 40 hands we've played. My image is solid/nitty so far, at 18/16/2, with one 3bet. Do you like/not like? Also, comments about sizing? I didn't 3bet pre because I don't think 3betting pre is better than calling. Calling has more EV because this player perceives me as nitty and probably won't be playing back lightly, and i don't want to get it in vs his 4bet value range.

I 3bet this preflop because I hate to play this OOP.
Well I dont really like this because we aren'te representing that much so I guess vilian will call here a lot Qx hands.

I like a call here since were not getting a call from any worse hands and i dont think you rep enough to get him to laydown Qx here, i just dont see you risking him checking back the river with a big hand, especially with his turn check

I have absolutely no idea why you would want to c/r the river

I am checkraising the river because villain can be betting for thin value after checking back the turn with hands that are better than ours, such as Q9,QT,QJ,(maybe KQ, prob bet turn, and occasionally AQ) and the majority of his range that is making these bets can't stand a river c/r because my range includes plenty of flushes (AJ/AT/KJ,KT,QT,T9), 77, and 99, which I can all play like this. His range doesn't have any boats in it other than 99, and includes like no flushes, so I'm turning JJ into a bluff.

Villain "never" has a flush/fh and we can have one, I guess this is ok - certainly way better than calling.

Well, yea, he can have 99, but what flushes does he have that check back turn? Small flushes bet for value against hands that have equity against them, and large flushes bet for value against Qx, mid pocket pairs with a spade, and smaller flushes. I haven't seen a villain check back a flush on turn very often (if ever). Comments on these thoughts?

You're 100% correct. The only question is whether or not villain thinks you will turn a pp/maaaaybe some Ax hand into a bluff often enough and he probably doesn't think so so the c/r is fine.

meh anyone with any sense knows that if they are gonna make a thin value bet here they are gonna have to call a raise since its obv they dont have anything

I dont like to do this against an unknown, you dont have any idea is vilian is capable of folding here hands he bet for value (most likely Qx hands)

seems complicated and unecessary, yah he never has a flush but doesnt mean he will fold a Q to this weirdo line

To everyone saying he is bet/calling Qx here, you think we should take this line with all of our made flushes that we decided to just ch/ca flop with? Also, I guess we should take this line with AQ/KQ then?

or just call and win... this is closer to a value c/r than it is to a bluff neither of which are very appealing

You're saying he's vbetting river and calling a c/r with worse hands than JJ?

Do you think that he is bluffing often enough with this line to just call this river?

i think theres probably a better chance that he calls with worse than he folds better.... having said that, what exactly are you trying to get him to fold? A Q,6 or overpair that didnt bet the turn? I would call here like 100% of the time.

Yea, I'm trying to get him to fold all the Qx hands he opens from co, which could go down through ~Q7s/Q9o or so, at least Q8s/QTo and better though. That's a fair amount of combos that take this line that have marginal strength that should (i think?) be b/f'ing this river. Also, I think it's good to take this line because if he bet/calls river, then we can note it and flat big pocket pairs pre, ch/ca our big hands planning for a c/r on later streets vs his thin value bets, etc. in the future.

LordRush, I like your move..I think its more profitable than a call. Also, you should check 100% of your range that gets to the river to him, if he is capable of value betting Q10+ and bluffing river as he should not have much of a calling range in case you bet(only some KQ, AQ, 6x that decided not to bet turn)..You should also CR AQ from your range for value on the river..

Pretty much his value+bluff range on the river is much wider than his calling range, so checking every single hand that gets to the river is completely standard. Having all this in mind I do not see how he can comfortably call a river CR with less than TPTK as our bluffing range includes only made hands and we are nitty!

This river c/r looks like what it is. A PP that realizes on river that he cant profitably call a bet but that villian doesnt have a flush nor a boat often. Id c/f. IME ppl dont bluff much here.

there aren't many posters here who are used to playing with a nitty image so it might be tough to get good answers - seems like it might be ok tho.
