Here's a common hand that I have problems with

BB: $2.00
UTG: $3.73
MP: $5.64
Hero (CO): $2.94
BTN: $4.01
SB: $5.26

Pre Flop: ($0.03) Hero is CO with A 7
2 folds, Hero calls $0.02, BTN raises to $0.06, 1 fold, BB calls $0.04, Hero calls $0.04

Flop: ($0.19) 9 T A (3 players)
BB checks, Hero bets $0.12, BTN calls $0.12, BB folds

Turn: ($0.43) 5 (2 players)
Hero checks, BTN bets $0.10, Hero calls $0.10

River: ($0.63) 8 (2 players)
Hero checks, BTN bets $0.20, Hero calls $0.20

Spoiler:
Final Pot: $1.03
Hero mucks A 7
BTN shows A J (a pair of Aces)
BTN wins $0.98
(Rake: $0.05)

How would you guys bet? What line would you take? What would you put him on?

What kind of player? How many hands are they folding pf? What is their agression level? Why are you limping/calling with a weak ace?

No information on the other player. Barely played a few hands. In retrospect I probably shouldnt have limped with A7s, especially after the button raised. So if this is the case, is that the only problem with this hand, that I shouldnt have played preflop? Or is there more?

A7s is a speculative hand and not something you want to play from early position. In late position its a good hand to open with or 3bet light with (would not recommend this at 2nl).

Additionally if you're the first one into the pot you really should be raising, the one exception to this at 2nl is I believe its perfectly fine to limp low pocket pairs from early position.

This sort of situation is exactly why A7s is not good from early position, you're forced to play from early position against a hand that could easily have you dominated.

Don't donk out on the flop, respect the preflop raiser in this situation.

As played once he bets on the turn I'm folding as it usually means he's hit his ace and most Ax hands beat us.

Raise preflop the first time it comes to you.

I would fold once BTN raises you pre as your hand is weak and you are OOP.

Dont donk flop just folds out all the non A hands and you value town yourself vs better A hands. As played i might c/c call a street or two but I cant see call three streets and expect to be good very often.

You should def either raise or fold preflop. After the BTN raises you have to fold.

As played i think C/C turn and river is ok, but only because villain bets so small.

You need to think about why you are calling the raise to begin with. Replay the hand in your head. When you called the raise, were you hoping to hit an ace on the flop or were you playing for a flush?

IMHO, you want to have a plan for the hand going in. If you aren't sure you will be happy hitting your ace on the flop after calling a raise OOP, just fold preflop unless you are ready to play for the flush and to dump it on the flop if you miss.
