By not shoving against villains 4-bet, am I as much as saying I've got QQ, and therefore leaving myself open to being exploited on the flop by AK, JJ who can interpret my pre-flop call as weakness and may put me in a tough spot if they push against my c-bet?

I got lucky in this specific case, but I still think my pre-flop line leaves me vulnerable post flop, how do I counter this, by widening my 3-bet range from AK QQ+?

If we call preflop we really ought to be stacking off on this flop almost regardless of flop action. If he has AA/KK, nothing has changed, if he has JJ/AK, nothing has changed. So I don't think it's that tough a spot if he jams over your c-bet.

Having said that, I prefer just 4-bet shoving pre.

You have an overpair on the flop with an SPR of 2.5, which means your goal is to get the money ASAP. Looks good as played, nice hand.

Mini bets like he's making are a sign of draws or weakness. Get the money in.

I'm not familiar with SPR, is this something from PNLH, I haven't read that text yet?

Yes it is, and neither have I.

SPR is Stack to Pot Ratio. Your stack size on the flop divided by the flop pot size.

In a situation where your SPR is 4 or less, you should generally be getting the money in with overpairs like this.

Preflop: Any reads on villian? If not, what possible hands do you put him on preflop? It almost screams AA or at the least KK! If he would have been smart enough to 3 bet more, I would have layed this puppy down. As it is, with your stack size as well as his it is work a call.

Flop: I would have just called here. You are building a monster pot here with just one pair and villian is showing considerable strength. If you are going to raise, then shove. Although I do not recomend it.

My head was screaming aces pre-flop, but something inside made me feel otherwise, I could have pushed pre-flop, I guess I didn't have the heart for it. On the flop I decided I was good and would stack off if villain pushed.

I wouldn't worry much about telegraphing anything at 2NL. These players can't see beyond their own cards.
