Poker Stars, $0.10/$0.25 NL Hold'em Cash Game, 6 Players
LeggoPoker.com - Hand History Converter

MP: $26.50
CO: $31.15
BTN: $46.45
SB: $24.05
Hero (BB): $25.90
UTG: $28.85

Both villains are total unknown

Pre-Flop: J J dealt to Hero (BB)
2 folds, CO raises to $1, BTN calls $1, SB folds, Hero raises to $4, CO calls $3, BTN calls $3

I think this is pretty standard. Though I can't be sure, it's likely that my JJ is way ahead of the co's opening range and the btn's calling range, but maybe just a call is safer? The only problem with a call I can think of is that an A/K/Q is gonna show on the flop about half? the time, and I won't have any idea where I stand. This brings up another reason to squeeze instead of calling: I'll be out of position for the rest of the hand, so taking it down preflop negates that positional disadvantage.

Flop: ($12.10) Q 8 2 (3 Players)
[color=red]Hero ?

I get two callers. I immediately tend towards them having a hand like AK/TT/99 but, as I said, they are total unknowns. I hate to immediately go into c/f mode b/c the board is reasonably dry, but is a bet spewy? What do you guys think the best line is here? What does it seem villains may have here?

Thanks

This is a hand we definitely need some sort of read with.

I'm not sure what I do without reads, I'm pretty sure that a bet of $7 is going to take this pot down a lot, but I hate putting in almost half my stack and giving up on the pot when I'm called. Your squeeze backfired and put you in a difficult spot with an over card to your pair... I think it might be time to give up and hope for a cheap showdown.

So you're essentially suggesting checking to the river?
If I check and a villain bets, is a c/f in order?

I often just call with JJ from the blinds. People don't expect you to have such a big pair and you'll get lots of value after the flop.

Since you squeezed, I think you've gotta bet out on this board, to protect your hand from bluffs and other scare cards that might hit. I would bet out just over half pot, which gives you a chance to get away from the hand. Fold to any additional action, usually.

Yes, being 3-way if I'm checking this flop my intentions are to check/fold, but I'm not necessarily suggesting that I'm just saying it's very hard to decide without any kind of reads. I do have a feeling that a bet will take down the pot a lot, but I'm not sure that I like it.

This hand plays differently if your squeeze worked and it became heads-up.

What do you advocate if the hand is heads up, assuming I'm oop and the flop is the same?

With a CO raiser and a cold caller from the button, I think you need to either raise to $6 or just call. I would raise to $6.

As played, I think AA or KK would re-raise preflop, so I think the Q might be a big part of someone's range. I would not bet this flop, leading into two other players.

fees' pdf said not to squeeze JJ, and I've noticed a lot more value out of JJ recently as a result.
