I dont have many hands with villain as I dont play holdem much. He is 25/23/4 hadn't seen him do anything dumb. I was playing 21/18.
I do 3 bet this hand often, but not a lot vs ep raises, so I realize I could have done that if I chose to.

What kind of range can I give him here for calling the check raise?

AA, KK, KJs, KQ? AK, JJ, 33, QT? and maybe any random xxd he decided to raise in ep.

Full Tilt No-Limit Hold'em, $0.25 BB (5 handed) - Full-Tilt Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com

SB ($32.42)
Hero (BB) ($45.64)
UTG ($26.69)
MP ($25)
Button ($26.90)

Preflop: Hero is BB with A, Q
1 fold, MP bets $0.75, 2 folds, Hero calls $0.50

Flop: ($1.60) K, J, 3 (2 players)
Hero checks, MP bets $1.25, Hero raises to $4, MP calls $2.75

Turn: ($9.60) 7 [color=#009B00](2 players)

Hero???

or maybe the check raise is where I messed up.. I'm thinking leading this would be better.

c/c flop is also an option. If Villain has no hand he will mostly give up on the turn and you can bet the river even unimproved...

yes c/c is an option too.. basically I could have done anything on that flop and nothing is really wrong.. it's just when the turn comes which spot puts you in a better position to win the pot/get his stack if you hit.
