Villain was 14/10/1 over about 60 hands. I had no history with him. He was fairly new to the table second or third round (we've played once before).

On the flop I'm either way ahead or way behind, his most likely range being TT+, AK. When he makes the small bet on the river I'm putting him on a smaller pair and raise hoping he'll get suspicious and call. If he does reraise he was probably slowplaying AK or QQ and I can fold.

All comments on the play or my thinking in the hand are welcome.

I play it the same, but flat call the river bet. Problem is that if you raise you are losing too much if he has it and he is not likely to call with weaker holding. I doubt he will bluff on the river, especially if he is a nit.

what had my 3-bet range looked like so far, had I been doing it a lot or was this my first time? If I had a loose 3-bet range, I might c-bet the flop, if I had a tight 3-bet range at this table I might play it up to your river raise and instead just call. You are not folding any hands that beat you and he is not calling with any hands that you beat, so I just call the river.

i think this is pretty poorly played. we checked behind on flop so we have no more information about him going into the turn, and then on the river we raise...

i bet flop, because we can gauge what to do on the rest of the hand based on his action, and as played i call river.

EDIT: i think maybe i'd min raise river or something, b/c it looks like he has TT or JJ

Call river. Likely hands that will pay you off are TT, JJ, AQ. Hands that have you crushed AK, KQ, QQ, KJ, 77. Not a great ratio.

Lesser hands will fold the river (or possibly bluff, which will have you in even more trouble).
