guy 3 beting 6 % and it was decent spot for him to squeeze. maybe should i check behind on the flop and fire the turn? or maybe just give up?

I would definitely fold to the 3bet. Calling and then 4 betting looks very strange and you won't get much credit for a strong hand. I think once he calls your 4bet you are crushed and should give up.
