villain was tight pre. The following hand shows how he has played an overpair before.

Poker Stars $22+$1 No Limit Hold'em Tournament - t10/t20 Blinds - 2 players

Hero (BB): t1540 M = 51.33
BTN/SB: t1460 M = 48.67

Pre Flop: (t30) Hero is BB with 9 A
BTN/SB raises to t60, Hero calls t40

Flop: (t120) J J 2 (2 players)
Hero checks, BTN/SB bets t100, Hero calls t100

Turn: (t320) 4 (2 players)
Hero checks, BTN/SB bets t100, Hero calls t100

River: (t520) 7 (2 players)
Hero checks, BTN/SB checks

(villain shows pQ)

7th hands later (nothing happened in between) this hand occured. His line is inconsistent with his overpair line from before, it looks really bluffy. Is this call right?

Poker Stars $22+$1 No Limit Hold'em Tournament - t10/t20 Blinds - 2 players

Hero (BTN/SB): t1310 M = 43.67
BB: t1690 M = 56.33

Pre Flop: (t30) Hero is BTN/SB with 3 2
Hero raises to t40, BB raises to t100, Hero calls t60

Flop: (t200) T 5 3 (2 players)
BB bets t180, Hero calls t180

Turn: (t560) 7 (2 players)
BB bets t1410 all in, Hero calls t1030 all in

I can't understand why anybody would ever call a pre-flop 3-bet from a tight player with the worst possible hand...

As played, this is an instantaneous fold...Your read says he's usually tight which means he doesn't like to play a hand unless he feels it's really great. He played his QQ poorly because like all really tight players he's a scared person who doesn't know what he's doing - therefore, he had an irrational fear that you might have had a J...

In this case he apparently has no such irrational fears - you are either looking at a set of tens or an overpair (probably KK or AA)

I guess pre could be fine since you are probably getting the proper odds to call, however why mess with it when you are just going to get into wtf situations like this which are ridiculously -EV.

Even if you were right this time this is a loosing play, did you snap call flop? how long did he take to shove?
