Hey everyone, this hand was played on an app.

$180 effective. Main V’s session stats, according to the app: >50% VPIP, and running normal. Whale. Notes: r/c pre UTG w/ A5o. Seems to attack weakness. Calls flop c-bet super wide.

OTTH

Pre-flop: Hero RFI CO $5 with 9 9. V 3-bets $20 BTN. Hero calls.

Flop ($43): 7 6 5. Hero checks. V bets $21.50. Hero calls.

Turn ($86): 7 6 5 10. Hero checks. V bets $43. Hero?

Most of the player pool is solid imo. So a lot of the spots I'm confused by come from hands vs whales/weaker players.

Bruh.

Simple x/c. You have 2nd pair to the board and a gutshot vs a whale.

What happened otr?

Whales are loose-passive, so a 3bet should set off alarm bells.

Flop is fine for reasons stated above. Turn is concerning; probably calling in game but not happy about it.

"r/c w/A5o preflop"

"Seems to attack weakness" does gravitate towards more aggro but that's also a fairly subjective note we have.

Also, if the whale isnt loose passive then you must think they are aggro. Why, then, are you suggesting we jam into a range that includes all overpairs when we can just let them keep bluffing?

because there is a lot of money in the pot and we likely have the best hand already

i'd rather go with a subjective note than the common wisdom

a whale's range is wide, if he's even slightly agressive, it means he's bluffing

Thanks for the feedback guys.

Notes are subjective of course, but kind of hard for them not to be.

re x/jam flop... don’t we need to fold out better at a decent frequency for that to be the best line?

Results:
I x/c turn. Brick river went x/x and V had KKs this time
