Please let me know what you think of my line here. Appropriate aggression level?

My read on villain was that he was a tricky player capable of bluffs and also capable of a laydown.

River donk is fine, just bet smaller, around half pot.

If he bets half pot on the river, and CO pushes, does Hero fold, getting what, 5:1 at that point? I think that betting on the end leaves Hero in the position that he's only getting called by better hands, and folding out anything that's worse. I think that of CO is capable of a bluff on the end, he's hoping that you're sitting on missed s and would allow you to get some value on the river.

Why CB the flop and then check-call turn? I like letting players like this bet into me in these spots.

I called the turn for the following reasons:
    1. I don't think that another bet was going to push him off of his hand (no fold equity)
    2. Pot control as I only have top pair in this 3bet pot
    3. Fear that he may check raise me off my hand and he had been the aggressive type of player who may do this. I prefered to call his bet if he bets into me (as he did) as I think that I have enough show down value to warrant a call if he bets
    4. The 8 doesn't hit my range as perceived by villain and doesn't really improve my hand

Your thoughts on the above for calling the turn?

I think the right line is lead flop, lead turn, check call river. Is there a reason you don't think he has the best hand, or is strong enough to potentially give a free card on the turn?

Reasons I prefer not leading the flop: 1) it shows strength because you're leading into the 3-bettor, which reveals info about your hand; 2) a flop lead gives him a chance to fold the weaker part of his 3-b range (hands like AQ, AJ, middle pairs); 3) with position he will float lots of hands so you don't get much info about his hand.
