Villain is aggressive, was basically putting in the bet on the flop in the hopes of drawing to a straight. In hindsight, I'm thinking I should have bet the turn.

Maybe you should elaborate more on your play throughout the hand

Betting on the flop I was betting for a couple reasons; to have more money invested when/if i do make my straight (I know- possible 4 outter for the gut shot) and even though I didn't hit the flop a J or a 9 could be okay (possible 6 additional outs for improving my hand. The turn card bought the 9 and a possible flush- I'm thinking I should have bet the turn but a check raise might be better perhaps but depending on his range: possible 2 pair or even a flush draw is my guess, he still would stay in the pot. River was an eight which wasn't a good card for me, completing a flush or full house. Even I had a pair of 9s I decided to bet (should have checked) and he raised me, seemed clear to me I was beat at this point.

I'd bet the turn too, and probably fold to a raise. Also raise PF or fold. Limping SB is a big leak that can cost you big.

bet turn for value. river bet/fold is fine.

limping pre is ok if villain is almost never folding to a raise and/or gonna 3bet u a ton.
