Hey guys,

would like to hear your opinions about these two hands and if my plays are justifiable.

hand 1)

villain new reg, plays 28/22/9 over 100 hands and is unknown to me but seems to be aggressive post

flop is pretty standard is guess

turn gives me an oesd and i already had the plan to turn my hand into a bluff if i dont improve

river is nice imo for my move as i can represent more valuecombos( 89s, T9s..) and i execute my plan

fwiw i dont have a c/r-range on this flop in this positions so my range isnt capped OTR but he probably doesnt know this anyways so its kinda useless to add but still...u like?

OnGame - $6 NL - Holdem - 6 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 3

CO: $919.05
BTN: $785.00
SB: $1,049.15
Hero (BB): $669.90
UTG: $2,239.80
MP: $713.25

SB posts SB $3.00, Hero posts BB $6.00

Pre Flop: ($9.00) Hero has 8 8

fold, MP raises to $18.00, fold, fold, fold, Hero calls $12.00

Flop: ($39.00, 2 players) J 7 5
Hero checks, MP bets $30.00, Hero calls $30.00

Turn: ($99.00, 2 players) 9
Hero checks, MP bets $70.00, Hero calls $70.00

River: ($239.00, 2 players) 9
Hero checks, MP bets $175.00, Hero raises to $551.90 and is all-in

hand 2)

villain(23/19/8) plays up to NL5k and again is unknown to me as i dont play much nl600/1k

dont want to c/r the flop because i can't rep anything and because it's bad for my overall range

turn he prolly barrels with 100% of his range except maybe good A highs so Q high can still be good or a Q/J on the river can give me the best hand

on the one hand i know that i cant represent too much OTR and it sucks that i dont have at least blockers to the nutflush but on the other hand there aren't many hands in my range i need to bluff-c/r-allin as well because basically all pairs i come to the river with are good enough to just call

good play or spew?

I think it's better if you post one hand at a time.

You get more response that way for both of these hands are interesting.

I play up to 1000NL but I'm not the type of player to bluff big especially oop out of blinds like this so I find these spots interesting but I personally don't like it.

Hand 1: I would flat preflop and check/fold. If I was to bluff at this, I would CR flop and see if he folds but that's it. As played, what are you representing on river? If I had TPTK or TPGK in his shoes I can't see myself folding here.

Hand 2: I would fold QJs preflop. If I play it I would 3bet this hand preflop but that depends on his steal % and his fold to 3bet %. I would CR flop and lead big or shove turn, if I was to bluff at this pot. As played, again I have to ask what you are representing on river? If he cbet the flop with AK,KQ, or KJ on flop, I don't see how he folds river.

I'm not the expert on bluffing so I wanna see what others say about these spots.

hand 1: I'd rather CR turn than river

given how you got to the river, 88 seems like a good hand to have in your bluff range

kinda looks like your turning hands into bluffs in both tbh

I hate hand 1. I'd lead the turn on hand 2, lots of hands to rep on most rivers and usually 10 outs. (bet straights and c/c rivered 2nd pair hands)

Hand 1 is fine, but probably cr turn is better. Hand 2 is spewy on turn cause you need to donk river with an obvious flush or be sure that he will barrel river that often(I think that he could shuts on a spade river with almost any showdown value less than good K). And players tends to call when fd misses usually.

Hand 1 is ok i guess, you are repping really strong.
The only thing that worries me is villains sizing.

Hand 2 is bad IMO as you only rep 4 boat/quad combos, rivered backdoor-flushes (which noone believes ever) and Hands turned into a bluff. I doubt that he folds anything he bets for value otr.

I would like to hear more about why both of these situations are bad to c/raise! I think hand 1 is very well played but I don't like anything about hand 2. I would c/r flop for sure and c/fold this turn because you can't c/shove river when you hit your flush. That's why I don't like your river c/shove either because it's super easy for villain to reason a call because you have so few value combos and so many hands to turn into bluff.

I like hand 1 and think you'll fold out almost his entire range. Hand 2 I think you rep so few combos that a shove is -EV.
