Please note that these games are not sponsored by or endorsed by twoplustwo in any way. Also, they are generally intended more for silly/ fun low stakes gambling than for serious learning.
This is an informational post about the Beginners Questions forum games which happen almost every weekend.
Who?
You are invited. Beginners are welcome. Non-beginners are welcome. You can bring your A-game to test it against thinking players, or blow of steam by acting completely crazy. It's all good. You'll see both serious strategy discussions and silly boasts in this forum afterward.
What?
In recent months, there have been open cash games for a few hours, usually $0.01-$0.02 NLHE, but sometimes LHE or PLO, followed by a $5.50 tournament, with password "supbro" without the quotes. (Thanks to davidv1213 for setting these up.) There may be bounties on a player or two, e.g., if you can knock Janelle out, you might get an extra $0.25, or $5.
These are not official 2+2 tournaments. They have nothing to do with the 2+2 company except that they are run by 2+2 forum participants.
Here are some threads with videos you can watch of past games:
Commentary on two entire tournaments
ceegee's forum cash game videos
There are similar games for participants of other 2+2 strategy forums, e.g., the Trout games.
Where?
Recently, the games have been on PokerStars.
To find the tournaments, look for an announcement in this forum, and then go to Tourney->Private and look for a "2+2 Beginners" tournament at the right time.
To find the cash games, don't forget to turn off filters excluding full tables. You may want to sort the tables by name. Since the cash games are open, not all players will be 2+2-ers, but the chatty ones with 6 buy-ins on the table usually will be.
When?
Sunday evenings, Eastern time, usually 9 PM, with cash games running earlier. Sometimes people will try to set up cash games much earlier, or on Saturdays.
Why?
It's fun. It's educational. It's easy money when people respect your raises. You get to tag 2+2-ers with a note to bluff-raise them later. Come meet others who read or post in the Beginners Questions forum!
