doodoo is correct. MDF isn't really a useful concept until the river, and solvers often don't meet it even in river spots.

That would seem to make less sense, again.
That's what's hard about it, and is part of the reason solvers don't usually meet it in practice. Pre-solvers, people just hand-waved it and said "anything that beats a bluff" which I think is still a reasonable definition even though it's kind of circular.
