opponent was a bit tighter than most players, but he made some aggressive moves like c/r my cbets. i cannot put him on a hand on the river as hands like J8 would slow down and i do not think he would donk potsized with a gutshot. KJ and QJ are probably in his range but i think he would shut down on the river. still an easy fold?

BB (t1790)
Hero (SB) (t1210)

Hero's M: 26.89

Preflop: Hero is SB with 10, J
Hero bets t60, BB calls t30

Flop: (t120) J, 3, 8 (2 players)
BB bets t120, Hero calls t120

Turn: (t360) 9 (2 players)
BB bets t210, Hero calls t210

River: (t780) 9 (2 players)
BB bets t510

reiterating what i said on skype.

river is a slam dunk fold.

So many hands beat you on river, (QJ,KJ,AJ,98,TQ,T7,97,T9) and randoms are not firing 3 barrels ever.

I raise the flop. And get it in on the turn.

This is 2nd pair or straight draw like 90% of the time.

Fold river of course, not sure how I feel about flop options. I can see stacking it and flatting it.

I'd re-raise the flop, min-raise is the best to find out where you at: villain can push- easy fold for you; call- you'll see his action on turn (would fold against tight ass big bet on turn).
The way you played it- easy fold on river (still have enough chips to build it up again)

Hello OP. You said villain was check-raising your cbets, but one thing you did not mention was what kinds of hands he was check-raising with. Knowing this information allows us to discount hands from his leading range on the flop, and make the river decision more clear. Or did you not get a chance to get showdown any of the times when he c/r?

as you assumed, i did not go to showdown when he c/r. if i remember correctly, he donkbet halfpot with middle pair, at least i did not put him on middle pair for that reason.

as it turned out, i am a station (nothing new, my main problem) and he showed up with 89o. so my read that he would be polarized and wouldn't have mpnk was incorrect.
