Poker Stars $0.05/$0.10 No Limit Hold'em - 6 players
The Official 2+2 Hand Converter Powered By DeucesCracked.com

BB: $10.00
UTG: $22.70
MP: $10.50
CO: $10.15
Hero (BTN): $32.20
SB: $8.45

Pre Flop: ($0.15) Hero is BTN with 9 8
UTG raises to $0.30, 2 folds, Hero calls $0.30, 1 fold, BB calls $0.20

Flop: ($0.95) 9 K 2 (3 players)
BB checks, UTG checks, Hero checks

Turn: ($0.95) 9 (2 players)
BB checks, UTG checks, Hero bets $1.50, 1 fold, UTG calls $1.50

River: ($3.95) A (2 players)
UTG bets $1.50, Hero raises to $4.50, UTG raises to $20.30 all in, Hero???

UTG was 40/30 over 53 hands and had 90% cbet. I had a note on him that he chases draws no matter how much you bet hence my overbet on turn. I've also seen him check a set two streets then bet it on the river. On the turn he could have anything I think and his river donk could have been a missed FD bluff but when he 3bet me all in I wasn't too sure anymore. If he's really ******ed he might have hit like AQ and decided it was worth over bet re-raise shoving on a paired board but I don't know if anyone can be that bad.

looks like a better 9 and your outkicked.hes value betting the riv and then all of a sudden he donk shoves your 3bet. does AK make sense though? he might put u on any ace and think ur playen aces and 9's with the king kicker. i can see a call here working sometimes.

I can't imagine he has anything you can beat here. It just looks like such a horrible slowplay all the way. Also you say:

Which is actually quite what this looks like. I'm thinking either KK, K9 or 22. I can't imagine he check two streets with AK here. I think this is actually a good raise/fold on the river. By just calling we seem to be leaving a ton of value on the table, as he might call with any kind of ace.

That was my thought too but the last thing I expected this guy to do was re-raise me all in. I folded because I spent 5 hours breaking even after a $100 downswing tonight and didn't want to lose it all in a marginal spot but in a different frame of mind I might have called. I just don't understand why these godamn donks check sets and full houses on the wettest boards possible until the river it tilts me just thinking about it.

You need to work on tilt control a lot more than this situation. These donks do this because they think it maxes their value. Then they continue to cry about how they never get paid when they make a big hand. Smile, make a note and move on.

I pondered this quite a while. However, I think we'll get called by worse quite a lot here, and he raises if he has us beat. Calling becomes a very good option after a couple more of these hands though. If he ONLY checks flop with monsters after he raised UTG, this guy becomes very easy to play against. For now(53 sample), I'll decide to r/f here. We still have plenty of stack to do so.

I'm probably being too much results oriented, I mean when villain shoves my first though was well just flat call. Now it seems your raise was ok.

I call the river as well and close one eye and hope that he has Ax and not a slow played boat.

Can't see what he isn't betting the flop with and not raising the turn with that he is shoving the river with.. Would call.

why are we betting 1.5 into 0.95 on turn?

I think building a pot by overbetting after the flop checked through is fair enough if you have a read it will work.

i am curious so i have learned this the hard way. i can't tell you how many times i've been in a spot like this and done the "uuuuhhg, but hes such a donk he could have anything, i call. kings full?? wtf! how could he play so weird/bad?!"

when someone does something WEIRD like check behind this flop with stats like those, bells should be going off. i've seen this countless times. he flops the big one, and wants to trap like they do on tv. just gotta bite the bullet and make the good lay down. i always remind myself that making good folds is a big part of the game.

I would fold because every time I would decide to call in this or a similar situation based on the logic that "oh he's a 40/30 fish, I have trips etc" I would always be shown the nuts.
