Hey, guys.

PokerStars - $0.10 NL (6 max) - Holdem - 6 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

SB: $10.00
BB: $13.92
UTG: $4.00
MP: $8.13
CO: $9.75
Hero (BTN): $12.74

SB posts SB $0.05, BB posts BB $0.10, UTG posts DB $0.10

Pre Flop: (pot: $0.25) Hero has 8 8

UTG checks, MP calls $0.10, fold, Hero raises to $0.50, fold, BB calls $0.40, UTG calls $0.40, MP calls $0.40

Flop: ($2.05, 4 players) 7 9 9
BB checks, UTG checks, MP checks, Hero bets $1.20, BB raises to $2.40, fold, fold, Hero calls $1.20

Turn: ($6.85, 2 players) J
BB bets $3.00, Hero calls $3.00

River: ($12.85, 2 players) 4
BB bets $8.02 and is all-in, Hero ???

Villain is 52/13 (over 23 hands) and I've seen him slowplay this kind of flop with a trips. Betting only the River. I'm curious are my calls too loose here? Even though I'm suspecting he's bluffing me, maybe I need a stronger hand to call and catch an eventual bluff?

Bet/fold flop imo. I call those minraises in similiar spots too often as well and then villain always continues and I have to muck ott or otr. River is definitely a fold anyway - he has passive stats and goes all-in on the river for a healthy bet, it's not a bluff. I would fold everything but a boat or a good nine on the river, you can find better spots to take his manies.

When playing vs passive fish just valuebet them and refrain from bluffcatching in general. Rather make thin valuebets than thin calls vs these guys.
