Hand 1: PPS to get maximum value. That includes the turn. You should be catching up there, and get money in the pot. River I won't risk a c/r. If he doesn't bet, which has a higher tendency of happening, you're screwed. So, PPS unless you have a solid read that Villain will definitely fire a barrel on the river after floating the flop and firing the turn.

Hand 2: 25/8, though over only 12 hands, is still a fold. You're not getting good odds here, seeing you haven't invested any money anyways.

I call with that second hand against a shortstack all day. Expect to see a lot of Ax hands.

Hand 0: 53.852% { JJ }
Hand 1: 46.148% { 99+, A9s+, AJo+ } [7% of hands]

I think it's kind of tough to assign a range to a random that's open shoving ~30bb's. It could be a much wider range than you assigned but it could also be a much tighter range. Do you think A9 is a value shove in villain's mind and he's folding A8 because it's too weak? If he's shoving A9, is he folding 88? Are there bluffs in his range or is he only shoving for value? If he's open shoving A9 for value is he still open shoving QQ+ instead of making a std open? Attempting to assign a definitive range to a random 30bb open shover at 10NL (or maybe at any stake) seems a bit arbitrary.

What villain has done in the 12 hands you have on him is the most important factor here imo. If he's open shoved before I'm def calling. If he's generally been a spaztard at all, I'm calling. If he's crazy you want to be playing as many hands as possible with him. Often times someone that is open shoving isn't going to be rebuying so if you don't get his chips, somebody else will.

JJ is obv a pretty strong hand but even if you call and lose you'll probably have more opportunities to get your money back from the maniac later so it's better to take the gamble now and call w/ JJ, especially since you're closing action. If he shows up w/ a bigger PP and then ends up not being a spewer, it would be surprising.

I'd probably be calling wider than JJ here.

but when villain only has around 20 bb it would be a no brainer call i assume?
