Hadn't been at the table long, but the villain had played about 80% of his hands over the last dozen or so. I had just sat down about that many hands ago, so no real reads other than he was super loose and others at the table were taking shots at him.

Question is, was the turn play alright? I couldn't put him on a 5, or any strong hand for that matter. BTW, he didn't have a 5, so my read there was correct. I put his range on suited cards, Ax, Kx, and general connected cards.

Preflop I raise a little bigger when I have one of these guys at the table. I'm not raising to scare him out, I'm raising bigger b/c I have the best hand and I know he'll call.

Flop, Your raise is way too small. Some people make the mistake of just 3x the bet (eg he bet .30, you make it .90). What matters is the size of the pot. Good rule of thumb is a pot sized raise. Pot is 1.55 if you call, so raise it to 1.85. When he repops it just get it in. He's not folding.

River, I'm not crazy about the overbet. I don't mind overbetting in these situations but your a bit deep for my liking. Not terrible tho.

I like the standard .50 raise preflop myself, but that doesn't really make a huge difference (in this hand).

Definitely keep in mind what Rusty said about the flop raise. .30 of your raise is a call, so you're only adding .60 onto his bet. As played however when he pops it up to $1.50 that is the green light to get stacks in. I'd rather get them in sooner than later with a board like that. Once he 3bets you on the flop he's pretty much saying he wants to play for stacks. If you shove and he folds, whatever you won the pot.

On the turn I don't mind the overbet. He's calling with the same range he was playing with on the flop, perhaps even more. There's straight draws, Ax, flush draws, even overpairs are all calling you here based on villains fishness. It's only a $2 overbet and if he's calling the turn he's calling the river so I don't mind putting him in on the turn.

If he beat you in this hand you just hit the top of his range and I'd continue to play this hand (generally) the same way vs. any fish at 10NL.

This is what I try to do when possible, but I'm still having a hard time figuring SPRs in advance if called. I really don't want to shove my last $6 into a $10 pot, for example, when trying to play my better, but not nut, hands.

This particular hand, I definitely see the value in a PSR for the turn bet.
