Hello all. Not sure what I should have done with this. Villain is 29/18 over 18 hands. Agg is 2.0. Not many hands but my impression is that he has some idea what he's doing.

With his raise on the flop, I don't feel I have the SPR to call and reassess on the turn. It seems that I either shove or fold here, no?

Any thoughts? Was my flop-bet too large perhaps? Might the hand have been easier if I'd have bet 1/2p?

IPoker, $0.05/$0.10 No Limit Hold'em Cash, 6 Players
Poker Tools Powered By Holdem Manager - The Ultimate Poker Software Suite. View Hand #19271532

    UTG: $13.68 (136.8 bb)

    CO: $10.31 (103.1 bb)
    Hero (BTN): $10.30 (103 bb)
    SB: $10.94 (109.4 bb)

Preflop: Hero is BTN with J J
2 folds, CO raises to $0.30, Hero calls $0.30, SB calls $0.25, BB calls $0.20

    Flop: ($1.20) 7 T 8 (4 players)
SB checks, BB checks, CO checks, Hero bets $1.20, SB raises to $3.36, 2 folds, Hero ???

I'd probably call here, not sure though as the turn is gonna suck to play

    Thanks for the input.

Problem is PFR was really tight and I didn't feel that 5b shoving JJ was profitable, so elected to flat pre.

You say that calling can't be so bad, but really I'm calling hoping that he doesn't bet again, with 6 outs... not keen on calling hoping for no more bets whilst committing > 1/3 of my stack.

I prefer 3b pre but calling is proly ok
flop is fold, he wont raise you with worse + there's short stack behind him

    Thanks all.

For those saying 3b pre... are you advocating 3b/f? Or even 5b?! Because that seems < EV than calling and playing a pot in position against a wider range. And 5b vs tight opp is a spew surely.

Yeah maybe should have bet less on flop, but that seems counter-intuitive on a wet board. I suppose had I bet 1/2p, I could have called his raise with an SPR with more breathing room.

why? you get called by worse (88+, ATs), you have the lead, which makes it easier to play, your range is not capped. also it is more likely to play HU then, which is probably better than 4way with JJ

edit: i mean 3b/f preflop, not on the flop obviously. flop is a fold readless
