Villain kept betting when checked to, hence my flop check.

He flats pre so we can exclude most of AK, AA. He may have AJs, ATs sometimes or even some other suited aces and generally wider range because of the fish on the big blind. When you check flop he may put you on pocket pairs and try to bluff you off a hand or he may try to get thin value with AJ. It's a weird spot, but I think you played it right.

I'd be disgusted to some degree seeing him betting otr too, but you have to call down I guess.

I'd check some weaker Ax and go for 3 streets with this hand. But checking occasionally is fine I think. And if you're going to check you absolutely have to call it down.

I'm not sure I'd check this vs. the 10nl field since I expect they have more weaker aces than they should and won't fold them but you should know the population better than me. I'd rather be betting than having them nit check the river with their AJ or whatever. The only problem with posting read based hands like this is we have to trust a read we don't have.

If the guy's going to freak out because you checked an A high flop, or value bets waaay too thin and stuff, then I can't really argue with that. But I haven't seen his other 650 hands.

He checked the flop because he took note the V was betting when checked to. Exploitation 101, must take note of opponents tendencies.
