Hero bets $0.70, UTG folds, BTN raises to $1.70

Decided to lead because I dont expect pfr to cbet this board very often and some turn cards can kill my action. Now BU raises and I'm not really sure.. Do we call an give up if we not improve ott?

By leading the flop you force villain's ranges to be much stronger.

If you x/c flop you let him bet possible AJ/AQ/AT/AA and hands like that.

Not only that but there are *very* few board runouts that you can actually b,b,b for clean value so it makes sense to x/c flop.

Its a multiway pot tho, so people are much tighter anyway right? Do we want to let it get checked around and see a J come up ott?

Having it get checked around to see a J ott is much better than leading the flop and seeing a J ott.

The difference between the 2 scenarios are villain's ranges. One of them, the J is a scary turn. The other, it's not a great turn by any means, but much much less scary.

So basically ur saying to pot control the OOP because our hands is too vulnerable on this board?

It's not pot controlling. You're manipulating villain's ranges.

Okay, thanks for you input btw.
When would you advocate to lead the flop in a multiway pot.
I often donk strong hands when there's 1 or more fish between me and the PFR (often tag) to give the PFR a chance to come over the top.

I'm much more comfortable donking 99 here than 98. In fact I probably do donk 99 here multiway. Not 98. It isn't strong enough to donk. But yes, calling flop raise, check/calling turn non T, Q, 7, and probably the same on the river.
