that's really player dependent imo, hardly any solid player would play AQ like that unless you have a very aggressive image. You're bet sizing looks fine to me, and i'd fold to his 3bet to all but the most aggressive opponents on the flop, he does play it like a set, and unless i have a read that he does this with thrash quite often, ie he's super aggro, i just give up here.

Second hand i also fold on the river, but i start getting suspicious and try to get to showdown as often as possible in future hands to get a read on his ranges.
